I’m Writing A Decorating Book!

I know for some of you this is old news as I’ve already shared this both in my newsletter and over on Instagram. But in case you missed the announcement, I’m thrilled to share that I’m writing a decorating book!!!

i'm writing a book

I have dreamed of doing this for years, so to say that this is a pinch-me moment is such an understatement. Since January, I have been steadily working, and I’m almost halfway through the writing portion! It has been such a joy-filled process to have the opportunity to write about what I’m most passionate about – creating a home full of personality!

My hope is for this book to serve as a helpful, inspiring and practical decorating guide, and so I would be immensely grateful if you would take some time to answer a few questions in the comments:

  • Do you have any specific design questions you would like to see covered in this book?
  • Do you struggle to define your design style?
  • What is the biggest decorating hurdle you have come across in your home?

If everything goes as planned, my book will be out in 2025! Of course I’ll keep you posted as I would love for it to grace your coffee tables. 😉 I know these incredible opportunities only come my way because of your support and encouragement, and I just can’t thank you enough!

I am so beyond thankful for this amazing community!

  • I like practical tips – how big should a lampshade be, what size lamp fits what size table, how high should a mirror be placed, how to choose a color palatte, how many colors in a room is too many, when is it best to use one large framed piece over several small ones….

I think I know my style, but how do you design a house that has furniture and accessories from several generations? An antique china cabinet, a traditional dining room set, today’s casual style furniture?

Accessorizing is a hurdle – color, heights, vinettes.

  • Would love to know how to avoid “trends “ yet keep my home timeless.

I tend to struggle with my design style because I like different styles.

A decorating hurdle for me is making “the moments “ I create in my home more cohesive with each other.

  • Like Jan mentioned, practical tips. Not everyone lives in a house with white trim; how can you pick colors and make your house look up to date with wood/oak trim? How do you incorporate design style into a multi generational home? (example, my 89 year old Mom lives with us; plus we have a 15 year old daughter; we all have our desires and opinions on furniture, colors, etc)

How can you use what you already have for accessories?

Where to buy for accessories – multiple choices, not just Home Goods, Ikea, etc

  • Thanks for sharing! This is so helpful, and I will definitely keep these topics in mind as I finish putting this book together!
