As many of you know, I’ve spent the vast majority of this year working on a decorating book. OurFifthHouse.com and my weekly newsletter unfortunately took a bit of a backseat as I poured so much love into the creation of my book, If These Walls Could Talk. And while my incredibly supportive Instagram community has already seen the cover, I’m absolutely thrilled to finally share it here on my blog, where my online decorating adventures began what feels like a million years ago. Drumroll please….
Writing this book has been such a labor of love! And while this project has been an absolute dream come true for me, without question I wrote this book for you. With every word, story, idea, bit of advice, or decorating tip I shared, I thought about this amazing community of home lovers and design enthusiasts that I’ve had the great honor of communicating with through various forms of social media over the years. So many of the questions you have asked me through emails, comments, or direct messages on the ‘gram were at the forefront of my mind as I was putting this book together. While I, of course, wanted to fill this decorating book with lots of eye candy, presenting an approachable, meaningful interior design perspective was my main objective. Because home for me is about so much more than a place!
In a nutshell, If These Walls Could Talk is a decorating road map and a creative permission slip that I hope serves as a helpful resource and reads like you’re getting practical design advice from your friend, Carmel. And I seriously can not wait for you to see these pages! But mostly, and maybe this is a little weird to say about a decorating book, but I hope the message and the heart behind the book is what leaves a lasting impression!
And also, I’m sure you’re not surprised by this at all, but I am OBSESSED with this red spine!!! You already know I believe every room needs a pop of red! 😉
