Scrapbook Paper Book Covers

I have a couple of old books that I like to keep on our coffee table.  They were part of a big box of books the hubs inherited.  They work really well with the color scheme we have going on in the family room, but I wanted to give them a festive look for the holidays.

So I picked up some Christmas scrapbook paper to dress them up!
I really like the vintage look of this pack I bought from Target.  I grabbed some scissors and tape, and wrapped the outside of each book with a piece of scrapbook paper.

I used a couple pieces of clear mailing tape on the inside to keep the paper in place.  I also added a border to the one pictured above by taping a strip of coordinating paper to the edge.  I’m not too worried about the tape damaging these books since they’re already pretty worn looking (and they’re not exactly “worth” anything – at least not to anyone other than us).  I could have probably skipped the tape all together, but I didn’t want it to be too easy for the 4 yr. old’s fingers to take the covers off 🙂

This was such a quick (5 minute) project and adds a simple festive look to our coffee table.
I tied them up with a little twine and placed my lotus flower candle holder (Arhaus – 30% off sale!) on top.  So easy.  So simple.  So sweet.
I used scrapbook paper, but I think an old scrap of fabric or even some wrapping paper would be really fun as well.  Do you have any quick and easy holiday decorating tips?  Ever wrap something other than presents at Christmastime?
