One of the easiest and least expensive ways to update/ spruce up a room is with new pillows. I’m kind of obsessed with pillows. So, when my Ballard Designs catalog came in the mail and I realized their pillows were on sale, I kind of did a little happy dance. Why? Well, one of the major reasons is because I love monograms. Anything that is personalized puts an immediate smile on my face, and Ballard Designs offers free monogramming! Another reason is because I can’t sew to save my life and believe me I’ve tried. Buying well made pillows at a good price is my idea of a good time! Plus their pillows come with a hidden zipper so they are really easy to wash when needed.
I’m in love!
I’ve been trying to bring in more pattern to my rooms lately. I tend to stick with solids in lots of different textures because it’s just really safe. It’s kind of crazy that I’ve always done this because a fabric store is to me what a candy store is to a kid. It’s like heaven. I LOVE fabric, and I LOVE pattern. I just haven’t really known how to mix patterns very well. I decided to, as Nike says, “Just do it”. Enough with the playing it safe; now is the time to let her rip. It’s time for me to just start playing with pattern and learning as I go about how to make it work. I’m really liking this mix. I like the Ikat with the floral and fretwork, and of course I had to get a few solids in there (with a monogram of course).
I had to buy the Ikat pillows (that weren’t on sale) because you know how I feel about Ikat. It’s called Malabar Sand in case you have to have it too. It also comes in a gray that is beautiful but just didn’t work with my warm color palette. I didn’t have the red twill pillow monogramed because I have a little idea I’m debating, so for now it’s just a plain solid; but let’s face it there’s nothing plain about a red pillow 🙂
The fretwork pattern is actually a Waverly pillow that I picked up at Garden Ridge a while ago. It matches my kitchen window panels perfectly.
I also changed the chocolate velvet seat cushion on my banana chair to a canvas (Pier 1). I’ll bring the velvet back in September or October. For now it’s time to start seducing Spring back into the house.
Have you started bringing Spring back in your house yet? What are some of the ways you usher in a new season? Are you as obsessed with pillows as I am? Let’s have a little pillow talk!
Love all of your pillows. You have done a great job mixing them all together. I love it!
