DIY – Painted Wooden Spoons

I was inspired by Lakeitha to paint some wooden spoons.

I needed some new spoons, and her painted ones were so cute I had to make myself a set.  I picked up this set at Target, but if you’re lucky enough to live close to an Ikea you can purchase an entire wooden utensil set for $.49 like Lakeitha did.  My Ikea is almost 2 hours away so off Target I went.
This was such a simple project.  I used some of the left over grey chalk paint, taped with masking tape around the top, and then painted 2 coats with a small craft brush.

Regular painters tape wouldn’t stick but masking tape did the trick.

When the paint was dry I took the tape off and used a little gold rub n’ buff around the top.  I just used my finger to rub it on in a very non-perfect kind of way.
I let that dry overnight and followed with 2 coats of poly the next day.
And now I have pretty new spoons!
I love them in my glass hurricane.

Thanks so much Lakeitha for the inspiration!

Have you painted any wooden spoons/utensils?  Wouldn’t these make a great hostess gift?
