Yesterday when I showed you our fall table you got a little peek at the table runner I made.
It was an easy little diy project that took less than an hour to make! I love quick and easy projects! Don’t you?!
I started with a scrap of fabric I had in my craft closet. I laid it out over the table and cut it down to the size I wanted. I did not hem the edges but instead decided I liked the rough edge look (otherwise known as the pure lazy look).
Then I had some fun with my new favorite craft supplies – Fabric Fun Pastel Dye Sticks. They are awesome! I found them Hobby Lobby one day and I’ve had fun playing with them! They write so smoothly.
All you do is write directly on your fabric – I made a fall list of things we want to do this season, wrote lots of random fall words in different directions, and also traced a leaf I found in our backyard (God makes the best stencils!). Then when I was done creating my ” fall document fabric” I placed a white sheet of paper over the design and used a dry iron to set the color. Then I washed it in the washing machine, dried it, and ironed it again. It washed perfectly and the color stayed – no smudging or bleeding.
These seasonal lists have become a tradition in our house. You can check out last year’s fall list here. I love this list being on a table runner that we can keep and use again and again. It’s a little piece of history for our family. And having this runner on our table adds a personal touch to all of our family meals!
Do you make a fall list? I’m currently looking for a great gluten free pie crust recipe – so if you have one you would like to share – please do!
