Motivation

For a DIY Design Blogger there is no greater motivation to get a house project done than hosting a party at a your home.  Am I right?!

As the party date draws closer, all of those unfinished projects become priority number one.  I’m the queen of decorating add.  I start one project and sort-of-kind-of halfway complete it, and then I start working on something else.  I always tell my hub that it’s all part of the creative process for me.  ðŸ˜‰

This Saturday we’re hosting a casual game day party to cheer on the Cats (we hope they win Friday so they advance to Saturday).  Since it’s a “big game watching party” we’ll probably be hanging out in the basement where the big TV lives.  Yeah, you know the basement.  The one area of my house that I’ve blogged about like maybe twice since I started blogging.  Yeah, um, there’s a reason for that.

So, imagine me, running around like a crazy person trying to finish projects…….

like this one that I started working on over a year ago.

Wish me luck!

  • good luck!!! i am motivated when i see a free week on my calendar and i think i actually have time to tackle something! 🙂 lately it's been few and far between for those weeks. best of luck- you can do it!

  • LOL, for me it's also inviting people over and I also start several projects at a time. But I think it should totally be that way.
I have to admit that I have one room that everything unfinished gets shoved into if my guests come over and it didn't get finished in time.
Good luck getting it all done, or you might have to get an unfinished project dump like mine 😉

  • I'm just like that! Or worse, I'll plan out a project I want to work on and then never get to it. What I've found helps is putting my projects on Google Calendar. I use it for work so I'm looking at it all day. If I block out a couple hours to work on something, there's a much better chance it'll get done. Good luck!

  • So true. And everytime I host something I think, "Well good thing something got my rear in gear." I always use little things we are having here to motivate me. Good luck, friend. I remember painting our fireplace the night before my hubby's big 30th birthday party!

  • Having a party is definitely the BEST motivation! Sometimes that even lights a fire under my husband to get stuff done 'round the abode. But your house is already fabulous…..so don't stress if it doesn't all get done!

  • Go Cats! I actually think it helps to let projects "breathe" occasionally. I think people can get stuck with an idea that isn't completely right and it saves them from learning the hard way. I'm guilty of design ADD and rush, rush, rushing!!

  • I am totally the same! NOthing like planning a party to get me motivated! I do have this one BFF though who has a house that is to die for. If I know she is comng for a visit I will clean for days, and everytime I go visit her, I jsut want to come home and start my whole house from scratch! And I know she could not care less what my house looks like, but I just want her to like it!

  • I plan events just so I can get things done. Parties and gathers are definitely the easiest way to motivate my personality type. I'm currently slacking in the project department. I guess it is time for another party! Good luck on all your projects!
