designing your own christmas photo cards

Christmas Photo Card made via PicMonkey
Once I had the pictures from our little diy christmas photo booth session uploaded I immediately started looking through the numerous holiday photo card options.  You could spend hours upon hours looking for a design you like – ask me how I know  😉    – each site has a huge inventory of designs to pick from, but finding “the one” is easier said than done.  So after hours of searching for a design I loved, at a price I was willing to pay (it’s always easy to find expensive things you love isn’t it?), I decided to use PicMonkey to design my own card.
The only problem was finding a site that would print my design  – without charging me an arm and a leg.  SO, I was thrilled to stumble across Vistaprint!

At Vistaprint I was able to upload the card I designed via PicMonkey, and the bonus was being able to print a double-sided card at no extra cost.  Which saved the day – for this indecisive momma – as I was able to get a few pics on the back as well – instead of being forced to choose just one!

And the best part is even though I upgraded to the premium matte card stock, I still only paid 78 cents a card – which isn’t too bad for a 5 x 7 double sided card.

This isn’t a sponsored post.  I just wanted to tip you off in case you were having a hard time trying to find a design you liked.  Using PicMonkey to design your card is really easy, and it gives you the opportunity to totally customize your message.
Have you already ordered your cards?  I’m trying to be really on the ball this year because I usually end up waiting to the very last minute to get our cards in the mail.  I’m hoping that getting them delivered before Thanksgiving will help me to get them out sooner.  Knowing me they’ll probably end up sitting on the kitchen counter for weeks, but let’s hope for the best!

  • Adorable. I love your backdrop and sweet are those two under the mistletoe. I love Vistaprint. Such great deals. First time EVER, I have my cards finished before Thanksgiving.

  • Love the picture and the card! So cute 🙂 I may have to try that next year.

Our Christmas cards should get here today and I'm already planning a night in the next couple of weeks to be filled with songs, hot chocolate and addressing 🙂

  • I love how your cards turned out, Carmel. Your kids' photo is so cute. My kids never want to cooperate for a Christmas picture. I would love to get one of them AND the dog this year, but I know that 3 kids plus a dog is just crazy talk. I've used Vistaprint several times and they are great!

  • How sweet are your munchkins??? And your backdrop looks so great! My kids are getting a little ornery about having the Christmas card photo taken….which means I might have to make a pretend card of all of them sleeping or with goofy faces, and pretend that's the card I'm sending to everyone!!! THEN they will do a photo shoot with me! Hee heee hee I'm already giggling at my devious plan. I used Vista Print last year for our cards – I loved the size and cardstock weight!

  • I usually try to order my cards by Thanksgiving, but I'm behind this year. I've started browsing here and there, but haven't even decided what pictures of ours to use or what I want….so this is awesome to know!! Your cards are the BEST! Love that it's your own creative photobooth display and your own card design…look at you!! I'm so impressed. And for the price?! Can't beat that.

  • Oh wow! look at you, you've got your card ordered already….Every year I always try to do it early but still end doing it the last minute!
    cute photos of the kids♥

  • Ooh great tip, Carmel! Thanks! Your cards turned out SO cute! With kids that adorable, it's no wonder! 😀 Hope you're having a wonderful day!

  • ooohhThank you so much for sharing that Carmel! I am definitely going to try that this year! I usually pay quite a bit for a double sided card so I can include more than one picture. You just gve me some valuable information that I can really use. Much appreciation!

  • i design and save all our cards and invites as a .jpeg in photoshop elements, then print them as 4×6 at any of our local one hour photos. i've never had to pay anything more than the regular 19-cents price for a 4×6 photo. of course, you can't print front and back that way!

  • YOU rock. Thanks. Talk about lighting an ember under my bedonkadonk. I already adore both picmonkey and vistaprint. Win win!!!

  • That's exactly what I did last year! But for some strange reason I had my heart set on a 5×7 size and double sided – so I spent a little more this year. I really wish the local photo shops would give you the option to print on card stock – that would be so awesome!

  • Hey! Thanks so much for the heads up on Vistaprint!!! I was able to get my cards there printed on the front & back for a few dollars less than what I paid for cards from WalMart last year. And SOOOO much cuter 🙂
