our christmas home

Hey friends!  Today I’m participating in a Christmas Tour of Homes hosted and organized by Chris at Just a Girl!  I love online home tours.  Anytime I can tour a bunch of homes decked out for the holidays in my pj’s with no make-up on from the comfort of my cozy couch I’m one happy girl!  You feel me on this right?!
Our Fifth House - Christmas Home Tour - Front Door
I’m not a Griswold.  I wish I was, but stringing lights in 20 degree weather doesn’t sound like a Merry Christmas to me  – or to my man.  So I go with easy outdoor holiday decor – 2 strands of lights, some lanterns, and a fresh wreath and greens from my favorite local garden shop.  Five minutes of freezing my bootie off – and I’m over and out – and back inside!

I don’t love cold weather, but oh my do I love me some snow.  It’s a weird love hate thing.
Our FIfth House -Christmas Wreath
Alright already stop peaking through the front door!  Come on in – it’s cold outside  – hurry up and get your tails in here!

The greeting on my chalkboard wall usually says – Be Nice or Leave – we’re a snarky bunch around here.  I changed it up as Santa wanted me to.  It’s a nice reminder for the kids.

Gold Chair
I bought the santa hat chair topper at an after Christmas sale at Target 20 years ago – okay- not 20 but close.
The little table in my entry foyer is where I stash mints for guests.  They’re in that little box on the mirrored tray.  We believe in peace on earth and fresh breath for men (and women).

Moving into the family/living room, I kept it all pretty traditional.

White Beauty lives on our mantel year round.  She got a whimsical holiday makeover.

The only new decor this year is the tree.  I got a new fake tree.  It’s 9 feet of awesomeness, and I love every last inch of it.

I love bringing out old Christmas photos.   My babies are getting so big, and seeing Christmas photos from years past makes me realize how important it is to treasure my time with them while they’re still young.

It’s for this reason that I reigned myself in this year, and I kept the decor in other areas of my home really really simple.  I want to spend more time snuggling this year, so I did less decorating.
In my dining room I went with just a bowl of ornaments and some fresh greens in hurricanes.

I love the simplicity!
So we’ve come to the end of tour today folks.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you came from Rhoda’s house (Southern Hospitality), welcome!  Be sure to check in tomorrow when Kim (Sand and Sisal) will be welcoming you into her holiday home!
If you missed any of the other houses on tour today you can check them out here:

  • One of my favorite Christmas tours so far! I love that your home feels unique, yet classic and completely warm and welcoming….with a little snark at the door 😉 The snow dumped before we got around to outside decor, so we're skipping the lights this year too…and I'm not sure we'll ever go back. Merry Christmas to your beautiful family!

  • Oh how pretty. I love your front door. Our last house had the same color door. Our neighbors thought I was crazy but then came to love it. I loved it. Anyway, your home is beautiful.

  • Hi Carmel, Gorgeous home that is.

The link for the 'front door color' under the 1st pic links to a wrong page… Could you fix that? 🙂

  • Beautiful Carmel. We had a balmy weekend after Thanksgiving, so we put the lights up then. I am afraid it's not going to be the same after the holiday however!!

  • So classic and beautiful! I love the touches of black and white that you have throughout your home. The holiday gold really complements it well. I went simple this year too…I think it's the way to go!

  • So beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Can you tell us where the new tree is from? I need to get a faux tree and that one is gorg! Thanks!

  • Wow I don't think I have enough GREAT things to say about your home. It is just fabulous, gorgeous, classic, chic, fantastic and absolutely stunning. I just love and enjoy your style. Your home is beautiful to say the least. I have to say your home always looks amazing but this holiday decor is just beyond amazing. You said that you kept it simple but to me it doesn't look simple it looks well thought out but I'm sure you simply roll like that. Your decor just goes amazingly well with the holiday decor. Everything matches and goes together even though it looks as if the pieces/furniture were not purchased in a set, do you get my meaning? You're so inspiring and I love your blog and I'm so glad that I found you!! You're an awesome individual.
Ps- I'm a 17 year old living in NYC and one day I hope to have a home like yours. I'm also very much into home decor/interior design and all things home so your blog is an utter blessing. Mery Christmas to you and your fabulous family. You rock!

  • So many unique and beautiful touches throughout your home! I am always a fan of your great style, I wish I could transplant your living room directly into our home.! You are one inspirational gal! <3 Merry Christmas to you and your fam!

    xoxo!

Bring you Good wishes of happiness.

Sorry for greeting you earlier,, just don't want miss saying this.
By the way, I'm Clotee. It's my first time visiting your blog. I am blogger too, and now try my best luck to open an e-shop. Nice to know you.

    Regards,
    Clotee

  • Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog and would LOVE to know the names of the colors you’re using around your fireplace brick wall. I have the exact same brick and it looks terrible w/ the oak cabinets arround it. I would love to know the cream/white color you’ve painted the mantel and the brown near the fireplace wall. Thank you so much for your help!

  • Hi! I wish I could be more helpful on the white paint, but I just watered down trim paint to whitewash our brick. I matched the paint to the existing trim and have no idea what color of white it is. The brown color is Hubble House Brown by Valspar.
