Sometimes all a room really needs is a little freshening, you know?
Thanks to Crane and Canopy I’m helping my sister in law in love give her master bedroom a refresh.
She’s still happy with her wall color and furniture, but was ready to make a few simple tweaks to give the room a fresh, new look…….and let’s get serious, decorative updates make my heart sing, so I was obviously ready and willing to help a sister out! 😉
Here’s a before shot of the bed. She was ready to say goodbye to the light blue bedding; it had seen better days and was a little faded and worn.
Her decorating style has a casual, welcoming vibe. She gravitates towards earth tones with small punches of color. When I think of what southern hospitality means I picture my sister in love – she’s honestly the warmest most welcoming person I’ve ever met. If you can’t tell……I adore her. She’s married to my hub’s older brother, who is smart enough to know that a master bedroom is really a woman’s domain and a happy wife is happy life – smart men believe and live by that little mantra – am I right? 😉 That being said, we didn’t go too girly with the room design plan, just simple and fresh with a few slightly feminine touches.
Starting a bedroom refresh by selecting the bedding first works out really well. She fell in love with the color and design of The Noe Green duvet set. It’s even more beautiful in person than it looks online, and it is crazy soft – like wow, say hello to luxury linens!
Using the bedding as inspiration I pulled a plan together that calls for bringing in this gorgeous striped rug from Ballard Designs.
Layering it over her wood floors and under the foot of the bed will break up the wood on wood since her floors are similar in color to the bed frame, and will add more pattern and texture to the room. When you’re keeping the color palette of a room tight using pattern and texture can really help to add dimension to the space. Replacing what’s currently hanging over the bed with a nice white round mirror will break up the square lines and also play nicely with the white design in the bedding.
Hobby Lobby is now selling pillow covers! I scooped up a few that work beautifully with the new bedding and the existing quilt she already had on the bed. The plan is to have the white one in the middle monogrammed in a dark chocolate brown.
The room has two small windows which will get all white canvas panels, and I found this pretty burlap lace-y looking ribbon (also at Hobby Lobby) that will be added along the edge for a fun detail that ties in beautifully.
This new Crane & Canopy bedding has provided the perfect jumping off point in this bedroom refresh. It alone makes such a huge statement and really brightens up the room!

*Crane & Canopy provided this bedding, but the love I have for it’s beauty and softness is so real that I sort of kind of almost kept this for myself…………..learning to share is an ongoing lesson for an only child. 😉
Happy Weekend! Local friends -stay warm!!
