Happy Monday friends! “Happy Monday” may sound like an oxymoron, but when you consider that the coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend all of a sudden the start of the week doesn’t sound so bad – am I right?!
This past weekend when I wasn’t on a soccer field (my son had 3 games this weekend!) I was working on outdoor projects. I spent some time sprucing up our potting bench.
You all know how much I love me some gold. I think metallics add so much to an outdoor space. They bring in a little glamour and chic-ness (that’s totally a word right?), and they work with every color palette under the sun. I’m a big fan of gold, and I especially love the way it plays with green…..so for me, in an outdoor space, it’s kind of a match made in heaven.
I fell in love with these little hanging succulent pots at Lowe’s. I think they were $4? I didn’t save my receipt – oops. #badblogger
I think they’ll do just fine in the pots they came in over the summer months, so I decided to give them a little makeover instead of repotting them.
This was the simplest project in the world. I gave them one quick coat of Kilz primer.
Then once the primer was dry, I brushed on 2 thin coats of chalkboard paint. Then I busted out the rub
‘n buff in gold leaf and added some fun patterns. Like I said, this. was. easy!
I really love the combination of the flat black chalkboard and the metallic gold! I put their hangers back on and hung them from my headboard-turned-outdoor-art that sits on my potting bench.
If you like the look of these little hanging plants but can’t find them at your local Lowe’s store – not to worry. You could easily recreate the hanging look with any plastic pot simply by making a few holes around the top with a hammer and nail or even a small drill bit, then stringing some twine through to hang.
Have you been sprucing up your outdoor spaces? Who else is ready for summer?! I. can’t. wait!!! I’m way more excited than the kids. I’m just so done with 4th grade homework and after school activities! Ha!
super cute! i love how they look hanging!
