What started as a way to dream up ideas for filling our summer with plenty of family fun has quickly turned into one of our favorite traditions. This is year 4 for our summer list!
If you’ve been around this little ol’ blog for awhile then you might remember way back when I turned an old work bench that had been collecting dust in my garage into a potting bench.
That was one of the best decisions I’ve made on the project front. We use this potting bench quite a bit as it doubles as an outdoor buffet and beverage station when we’re entertaining in the backyard.
And I’ve used these same kitchen cabinet doors turned chalkboard shutters to write out our summer list for the past four years.
I always have the most fun decorating this potting bench/beverage station! This years touches of gold are definitely a favorite of mine. I grabbed some rocks from the garden and spray painted them with my favorite gold spray paint. Why have I never done this before? They’re sooooo pretty!
I showed you a glimpse of these pinwheels in yesterday’s chalkboard and metallic gold plant pots post. I found them at Michael’s and once again busted out the gold spray paint. In gold they’re the perfect combination of chic and whimsical! I love them!
And my hub’s favorite new addition to this bench?
He’s in mega love with this bottle opener. Ha! Who’s surprised? I found it at Street Scene – local friends, they carry lots of fun hardware – hooks and knobs – lots of good stuff.
Little by little my backyard is looking ready for summer. I myself have been ready for weeks already! Do you make a summer list? Making ice cream is a new one for our list…………does anyone have any great recommendations on an ice cream maker?
Love it Carmel! The gold touches are perfect. Our bottle opener is looking a little sad, might need a good coat of gold spray paint 😉
