reading nook update

Friday I mentioned a diy instagram board that I shared over at Infarrantly Creative.

Today I’m showing you where it went to live in my home.

It’s getting cozy in my bedroom reading nook.
I made a few other minor tweaks to this little corner.
I stacked a wine crate on top of old picnic basket to create a side table, added an old black and white photo of my grandmother to one of the frames and carved our initials on a wood slice (from Michael’s).

It’s always amazing to me how just a few minor tweaks can make a space feel brand new again.  And most often it’s not about buying anything new it’s about re-imagining things you already have.
I spend a lot of time reading and relaxing in this little corner.  Do you have a reading nook or a little space in your home where you can sit back and relax?  Have you made any decor tweaks around your nest lately?

  • I love your nook. It is so cozy. I need to tweak my reading nook a little more. I converted my under the stairs closet to a reading nook (painted it a bright turquoise, put in a cushy bean bag chair, I then realized out it gets a little hot and stuffy in there so I want to see about adding a mini fan then add some wall decorations (vinyl cutouts, etc). Your nook has now inspired me to start working again on my own. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is one of my favorite spots on your home tour! Love the tweaks you made. I love me some crates. 🙂 That wall color is one of my new fave wall colors. I'm about to take the plunge on a medium/dark soft blue for my master. Thanks for the inspiration, Carmel!

  • Hello,
Just curious, what is the name of the blue wall color in this picture? ( Is it a Benjamin Moore color?)
You call it a “reading corner”

    Thanks
