what’s on my mind this friday

Hey friends and happy Friday!  I’m pumped for the weekend, so let’s just dive right in today – shall we?!

1.  A bunch of you all asked me for the outfit deets in my fall home tour yesterday.  Thanks for the super sweet compliments; you all definitely know how to make a girl feel extra special!
casual fall style - sweater, distressed denim + ankle boots
The sweater is from JCrew and is currently on sale with an extra 30% off -woot!  It comes in navy too, but I’m not going to lie I bought the burgundy because they called it “vintage cabernet”.  How awesome is that?!  From now on anytime I see the color burgundy I am going to refer to it as vintage cabernet…..best name for a color ever!   The jeans are Old Navy; love the mid-rise rock star.  The boots are Marc Fisher from Macy’s; but I bought them back in the summer during a giant shoe sale and I don’t think they’re available any longer.  These boots are fairly similar.  Necklace is from here
2.  Speaking of fall fashion, I’ve decided this is what I want for my birthday next month!
Ummmm……..can one of you all text my hub to let him know?  ðŸ˜‰  Be still my red, plaid loving heart!
3.  I really loved touring all of the homes in the Eclectically Fall Home Tour.  It’s always so much fun to see how differently everyone decorates.  I can’t help it though, when it comes to seasonal decorating, I’m always drawn to the simplest changes.  I just loved how Cassie used her chalkboard over her desk in her living room to make a fall bucket list.  It’s such an easy way to bring in the feeling of fall.

Her whole fall home tour is just beautiful!
4.  If you’ve ever wanted to make your own pom poms, you’ll want to bookmark this tutorial.  Sassy Mrs. Sugarplum makes it look way too easy!   With fall television getting ready to come back on the scene, I see lots of sofa crafting in my future.  ðŸ˜‰

5.  Last but not least, who else is watching?!?!?!?!?!

They’ve done such a great job of bringing these characters to life.  I’ve been blown away by every episode.  Though I will say, if you haven’t read at least the first book you really should before you start watching.  You will love Outlander………it’s the kind of story that stays with you.

  • Carmel, I always enjoy your blog and style ideas! Just a heads up that your site is trying to get users to install malware via a popup to update Flash player to properly view your site. I use Chrome which automatically updates software like Flash, so this is definitely bogus. I see this pretty much everytime I click through to your site. I do not see this when I click on other blogs. Have a good day!

  • A friend gave me Outlander back in 06 and I've been hooked ever since. I've retread them so many times the first book actually fell apart. And I had to buy another copy! I also love what they've done in the tv series. They've taken a huge book and really stayed fairly true to the story; which is important when so many love the series. I can't wait for her next book.

  • I am really excited to see the wedding episode, but sad to hear there are only the two episodes left until the break…. presumably because they weren't sure how the show would be received and they took a break to complete the filming for season 1… but I'll still miss it in the meantime. I am reading the 5th Outlander now and really fell in love with the characters and overall story.

  • I've been in love with Jamie (and Claire) since the early 90s and re-read the entire serie again these past months, while waiting for book 8 to come out and the TV-serie to start airing. 🙂 Best books ever – and the TV-serie is just great!

  • Carmel – I love your blog! And who doesn't love Jamie and Claire from Outlander? I'm a huge fan of DG's and have had lunch with her, etc. She is a very talented author. The series is doing a great job of staying along the storyline. They did dress up the wedding quite a bit but it's an adaption.
