saturday style – the case for sweatpants

Happy Saturday friends!  I’m back with another edition of the Saturday Style Mix, and this time I’m making the case for sweatpants.  So here’s the thing, my day job is such that if I want to wear sweatpants to work everyday no one will be complaining to HR.  Why?  Because I’m the head of HR.  I’m also the head of accounting, administration, the cafeteria and janitorial services.  My weekdays include driving carpool, running one million errands, keeping a family of four well fed, maintaining a somewhat clean home, attempting to keep up with laundry (my nemesis) and in my down time I moonlight as a diy design blogger.   So it’s not unusual for me to drop the kids at school, run to the grocery, throw something in the crockpot and then bust out a nail gun, a hot glue gun or a power saw……depending on the current project I’m fitting into my schedule.

Because of my job duties I’ve become a major fan of these sweatpants.  I’ve had them for over a year and they were out of stock online for awhile.  Then they came back in stock, for like 2 days, and are once again out of stock!  (insert sad face)  I guess I’m not the only fan.  While I wear the honk out of them around the house paired with a raggedy oversized t-shirt, when I’m out and about I dress them up a bit.
Here’s three easy breezey pulled together looks sporting my oh-so-comfy sweatpants.  (Put them on your radar and grab them when they come back in stock – you won’t regret it!)

The Style Mix posts are about trying new things, mixing it up and playing around with what you already have in your closet.  So what do you think?  Yes to sweatpants……..or oh, honey no.

  • I'm very much in the "oh honey, no!' category. For me personally, here in the land of the yoga pant and hiking boots (Seattle), I simply cannot get behind being that dressed down and out in public. (Meaning NO offense to anyone who does wear sweatpants/yoga gear in public for anything other than exercise.) I just don't feel comfortable leaving the house in something I normally wear as pajamas. Even for the school run. Jeans are my usual though I have invested in some cute tunic style dresses and other fun spring things. You would probably love this skirt (which I am currently wearing) from JoeFresh.com it's sort sweatpantish, has pockets, is SO comfy, but can be with a loose sweatshirt, or a tee and heels. It was on clearance a few weeks ago and is no longer on the website, but the site itself has lots of comfy, relaxed stuff for what I consider a total bargain. And bargains are always a good thing!

  • You look too cute!. Sadly, I couldn't pull that look off, but I do live in my semi slim yoga pants and tunics (and now that it is warmer weather I can put my flip flops back on!). I clicked on your link for the pants, not sure what size you need, but all of the colors are in stock from size XS to M. The blue/black is out of stock in size small. Hope this helps you out.

  • To me, those don't look so much like sweat pants…they are cute as can be ON YOU! Not everyone can wear something like that, nor should they! I am also in the 'Seattle area' and my fashionist daughter in college got me hooked on yoga pants. Not only are they so comfy, just their name makes me feel like I've been 'doing something' remotely like exercise! Jeans are still my 'go to' pants, but I have been known to run to town to do errands in my yoga pants! Yours are darling all 3 ways!

  • Of course! You look adorable and one can dress them up if they choose. There's a huge difference in your styling and those that most likely never look in a mirror.
