I’ll never forget the first time I heard the song Oceans. It took my breath away. The lyrics to that song have stuck with me. They’ve comforted, inspired and encouraged me. I get a little teary every time I hear this song at church or whenever I play it in my car when I’m driving around town. I’m so very grateful for God’s love and grace. I’m so humbled to be called His daughter, and I find so much peace in knowing that no matter what curve balls life throws my direction He has my back.
The lyrics in this song that mean the most to me are in the second verse.
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now
I don’t know about you , but in my life thus far there have been many times when I’ve felt surrounded by fear. There have been times when I’ve felt like fear could literally swallow me whole. Life can be really scary sometimes, and these lyrics just sing to my soul.
I listen to this song all the time. I love it. I cherish these lyrics. I cling to them. And now I get to not only listen to them but see them every day. A daily reminder that my trust and faith in Him is bigger, greater and stronger than my fear. A daily reminder that fear has no power over me.

DIY SONG LYRIC ART:
Supplies:
canvas (size of your choice) – I got my large square canvas at Hobby Lobby
stickers – I used these 2 inch vinyl letters from The Home Depot (find them in the aisle where they have signs for garage sales). I like these stickers because they are thick and easy to reposition so you can play around with your arrangement.
paint (of your choice) – I used 3 different colors of acrylic wall paint
Directions :
Start by painting the blank canvas completely white (or whatever color you want the words to be). Once the white paint is completely dry, place your letter stickers on your canvas in whatever arrangement you like. I prefer a more hand made look so I didn’t bother with a ruler, but using a ruler would make it easier to line up each letter. Then lightly brush over the entire canvas with the paint color of your choice. I used two different colors of acrylic wall paint, and I mixed them with water to create a washed watercolor type of effect. Mixing water with the paint will make the paint a bit runnier so I did have some leakage under the letter stickers, but because I was going for an imperfect look that was just fine with me. When the paint is dry peel off your stickers and hang your canvas! So fun and simple right?!
I love this Carmel! I love that song as well. Having the remember visually present everyday is nice. I was just thinking to myself this morning that I needed to create something to hang in our Master bath on a wall similar to yours. Cannot wait to see more of your bath!!
