Well, it’s Monday again. The weekend flew by didn’t it?! Can you even believe this coming Sunday is Father’s Day! I’m not sure what you’re planning to get the fathers in your life but my hub loves him a bow tie and pocket square, so that may just be the route I take this year. Not that he needs any help from me in the “how to dress” department. I keep telling him he should start a mens fashion blog. 😉
The great thing about a pocket square is that gifting my hub a new one is kind of like gifting myself because I’ve become quite fond of using pocket squares in my own fashion and in our home’s decor. So his collection of pocket squares has become a shared collection. Though I don’t think he’s too happy about that fact. 😉
You can find pocket squares everywhere from thrift stores to Nordstrom. Your grandpa may have quite the handsome collection, and I typically prefer vintage to new most times. In the same way that a lady’s scarf can be a thing of beauty so can a man’s pocket scarf. There are so many gorgeous colors and patterns! Plus they come in a variety of sizes. Years ago I started rummaging through my hub’s collection because he can only wear one at a time and they are just too darn beautiful to sit in a drawer waiting for their turn to be worn!
Here are few of the ways I’ve been using them.
1. I like to tie them on my handbags for a splash of color and pattern.
2. They make a top knot look extra chic. At least I think so…..and so does my little girlfriend.
3. They look amazing framed! An entire gallery wall of these beauties would be just gorgeous!
4. They make for fun wine charms. Though I’d recommend only using them for white or rose. Red wine will stain and ruin them.
5. Last but not least, they add some fun to a mason jar whether used as a vase or a pencil holder.
I’m a big time believer in using the things you love to collect in your decor whether that means displaying your collection of vintage hats and handbags or layering your favorite scarf over the bench at the end of your bed. I think the things you love and cherish should be a part of your daily life.
Do you have beautiful things sitting in a drawer or cabinet somewhere waiting to be used for a “special occasion”……..well, LIFE is an occasion! So pull those items out and find a way to use them in your day to day! I love color and pattern, so finding ways to use these beautiful little pieces of fabric makes me really happy!
And being blessed to call this well dressed man my husband makes me really happy too!
I hope this post has inspired you to look at your own collections of things with fresh eyes!
I love all of these ideas, especially the ties on the wine glasses! I framed my grandmother's vintage silk Polo scarf and hung it in our living room…it makes me so happy every time I see it! 🙂
