saturday style mix – dressy and distressed

Hey friends!  Happy Saturday!  Why do summer weeks fly by so fast?!  I can hardly believe it’s already the weekend.  I’ve been trying to savor each day this summer with my kiddos, and while I know summer break just started, I feel like it’s already flying by way too quickly!
Today I’m sharing one of my fav summer looks – the dressy and distressed combo.  I dig comfy clothes big time, and I love the way a dressier blouse ups the game of a pair of distressed denim shorts.  I also love an outfit that can easily translate from day time fun to dinner on a restaurant patio.  What can I say really – except that summer makes me lazy  – and multiple outfits in a day is just way too much work.  Day to night with zero changes?  – I’m all in!

I’m a big time believer in rocking your own personal style – both in fashion and decor.  I really do dress my body the same way I dress my home.  I don’t worry about trends, brands or rules.  I just rock what makes me happy.  I’ve had this dotted/spotted black and white blouse (purchased from local shop World’s Apart) for like maybe 10 years…… or at least 7.   I’ve always LOVED anything dotted or spotted……polka dots are kind of my thing……always have been.  The one fashion rule I follow is – only buy what you love, and I find that in doing that I end up with not only a closet of clothing I really dig but pieces that I continue to wear over and over again.
I think in fashion just as in decor, it’s easy to get caught up in that whole “what’s in” or “what’s on trend” thing.  But, when you hone in on what you really love that’s when you find your style…….and like they say – fashion fades, style is forever.
I like pattern and color.  Y’all already know my signature color (signatuh culuh) is red.  😉  I like comfy, fun and casual pieces that are easily interchanged for multiple looks.  I love mixing vintage pieces in  – I collect vintage handbags – this number pictured here is from Street Scene Vintage.

Just as in my home, I love the way a well loved worn-in looking piece compliments something shiny and new.  Maybe it’s because I’m the type of person that if I were to find an extra $50 in my couch cushions today I’d immediately run out and buy something new for my home, but I think there’s a lot to be gained from allowing your decor style to influence your fashion style………… and vice versa.
As always, these posts aren’t intended to make you feel like you need to buy something new.  Hopefully they encourage and inspire you to try some new things with what you already have!
