a custom house portrait giveaway

*****Update*****  This giveaway is now closed.  Winner was notified by email.

Last month when I shared my 10 favorite Etsy artists, a bunch of you all went bananas over the  custom house portraits from Texture Design Co.  I can’t say that I blame you.  The custom house portraits are what drew me to Texture Design Co. in the first place.  I’d really love to have one made for each of the houses we’ve called home.

Since Texture Design Co. is a local Charleston, SC based graphic design and stationary studio I decided to reach out to the owner.  Meeting Emily was such a treat!  Getting a peak at what goes on behind the scenes during her creative process was so amazing.  She is so, so talented and such a sweetheart!

  • I would probably be selfish and keep it for myself BUT I'm going to use the 10% off to buy one for my friend, so that counts for something, right? 😉

  • I was actually thinking of ordering one for my parents after seeing your previous post, but now if I win this I will definitely get one for me too!

  • I want one of my own house. This house we've lived in since my oldest was 3, my middle was 1 and where my youngest was born. The oldest is now a junior in high school, and we plan to leave this house after the little one has graduated. It would be a lovely keepsake of where we raised our family.

p.s. I already follow you on instagram.

  • Oh I would definitely have one made for my house. It's the first house my husband and I have ever lived in and it's so quaint and charming! I've also seen something similar on Christmas ornaments, but I'd rather have this to enjoy it year round.

  • I would love to win a home portrait of our new house and hang in our living room. We have only been in our new house a few short months, but I am so incredibly proud and in love!

  • i would have it made for my brother and his family- they just sold the house that all the memories have happened in- renos, proposal, marriage, twins pregnancy and birth and arrival home…. so many memories! i would love to do this for them.

  • If I won I would gift it to my brother who just bought his first house! Even if I don't win, I might get him one anyway with the discount code…

  • I would keep it! It was a huge accomplishment for me to be able to purchase my own house and although it is tiny and needs some TLC I love it!

  • I would give it as a gift to my 5 year old and 4 year old, and have it done of our first home together as a family that we sold almost a year ago. They really miss the house, and talk about it all the time. They would love seeing a beautiful painting of it hanging in our new home.

  • If I were to be so lucky to win this great giveaway……I would be selfish and keep it for myself. My home..the home that I've loved for 30 years. We are thinking about a move and this would a beautiful way to remember my favorite house.

  • I would give it to my parents for Christmas. It would be wonderful to have my childhood home, which my dad built himself, captured in such a beautiful, meaningful way.

  • If I won I would gift it to my parents for Christmas. My grandfather passed away this year and I think having a portrait done of his house would be a great gift!

  • I would love to have a portrait done of my house because it's the first home my husband and I have ever owned together. The owners before us built this home and lived in it for 50 years. We have completely renovated it while keeping its simple charm. We have put so much love into this house that I would love a portrait to keep in our family for the next 50 years!

  • This is my plan for Christmas this year for my parents who sold their 150 year old Victorian having owned and lived in it for 38 years. They were the 3rd owners! The people who bought it talked up the preservation/restoration, but the second they had the keys, they gutted it to condo-ize. Heartbreaking. We want to remember our wonderful childhood home.

  • I feel so selfish saying I'd keep it, but…my husband and I just bought our first house, and I know we're going to move a lot in our lives! I'd love to start a tradition of getting drawings done of all of our future homes, too 🙂

  • I'm going to be gifting one with the discount code – my in-laws are moving from a family home that they completely remodeled and added on to, so it will be a nice keepsake. So if I won, I would be keeping that one for myself. 🙂

  • Definitely torn between keeping it for myself (we're currently in our first house and just brought out baby girl home to it, so it will always hold a special place in our hearts no matter where we end up in the future) or gifting one to my parents.

  • If I won I would get a portrait of my house to have before I make my next move. These portraits are a great idea and I will be ordering some as gifts in the future!

  • I would love a portrait of my home! And, I followed you on IG, Texture Design Co. on IG and Our Fifth House on IG.

  • I would get a portrait of the house my mom grew up in. That house was in her family for decades (and several family members were even born there), and it was so hard for her and her siblings to sell it when the time came. I know she'd love this! Thanks for a wonderful opportunity. 🙂

  • I'd have it made for my husband who lived in the same home for almost 40 years……18 with his parents and 18 with me, (until we sold it and built our current home.) We bought it from his parents when we married. Our boys grew up in the same home as he did. Great memories in that home!

  • Before you even asked I was already thinking would I keep that or give that to my sister who would love it too:). I don't know…the pressure! What a wonderful giveaway.

  • I would keep it for me. The shelf life on staying in this home is coming to an end in a couple years and I'd love my sons to be able to visit any new home we get and see their childhood place as a treasured thing 🙂 It has been a fine place to raise my boys, it deserves the attention lol

  • These are so cool! Can I punt and say I'd take the giveaway for myself but then I'd gift one to my best friend for the holidays? (Best of both worlds here…) 😉 We bought our first house 2 years ago and will be bringing our 1st baby home to it in a few weeks so I'd love to have this cool portrait to commemorate our little cottage. Here's hoping!

  • I would have one done of the house we live in now as a present to my husband. After living in Ohio for 8 years, I convinced him to move back to my hometown of Lexington, KY. I might even pay to have another done of our Ohio home, where we brought home our babies.

  • I would have it of my grandmother's home. She passed away 6 months ago and come Nov 12th, they are tearing down her home (she lived there 60 years) to build an apartment building. It's a charming cottage full of roses in the front. It would be a lovely keepsake! Marcy

  • I'm actually not sure what I would do. I would love one for myself since I don't think anyone else I know is as interested in homes, decorating, etc., as I am. My parents are getting older so I would probably have one done for them.

  • I would get one down of my home now. It will not be our LAST home, but something to help remember the milestones that happened here would be awesome.

  • I would love to have one made of our home! We have spent the last 20 yrs renovating an 1870's Greek Revival and this would be a wonderful addition to our home!

  • I would love to have a print of my home! It's my husband and my first home and I love it so much! We don't anticipate it being our forever-home, so it would be so fun to have this as a memory 🙂

  • I'm going to choose to be selfish on this one and say I'd keep it for myself! I have been DREAMING of a hand-drawn picture of our house for the longest time. We still live in our first house (i.e. we could still take the picture I'm about to mention, but it's just not the same…), and the one thing I regret is that my husband and I did not have a picture taken together in front of it on the day we moved in. This sort of feels like a different kind of special thing that could would make up for that! (I also follow both of your on Instagram and you on Facebook, too!)

  • This is my first home so of course I'm proud of it and have made a lot of memories here and I'd love to have this displayed on my gallery wall with other mementos of my family and life's accomplishments.

  • Our daughter and son-in-law are buying a new home, and I would definitely have a portrait done for them – and maybe order one for our home!

  • We moved into our current home in 2006. Since then we've completed many projects to update our home's curb appeal (paint, replaced damaged stuco, new roof, garage doors … you get the picture). I would give the portrait to my husband to memorialize the hard work we've done to improve our home's exterior.

  • My parents sold their beloved home of 30 years recently and moved to another city. I would love to give them a portrait for Christmas!

  • I would love to give my mister a portrait of his grandparents' house. Thank you so much for the chance to win!

  • I would love this for meeee! We have lived in our home for 14 years (after moving into it as a "temporary rental"!). It's the only home our children consider part of their childhoods (they are 17, 14 and 6). In fact, the 6 yr old was born in the master bedroom! I would love to have this as a family heirloom to pass on to them in the future. xo

  • I would love this to give to my husband as a Christmas gift. We will be celebrating our first Christmas together as husband and wife. This would be the perfect gift to always have a piece of our first (and current) home together. Our house is the place where became Mr. and Mrs. Summa – would love to hold on to and share/show our future children someday, the place where we built the foundation for our family.

    Have a lovely week!

  • I have always loved the idea of a house portrait so I would keep it *but* I think I would get it done of my childhood home.

  • I'd have a house portrait made of our forever home. We've recently moved temporarily (for 6 years) to a city 85 miles away so we could enroll our grandson in a private school. We look forward to the day we move back permanently. We miss her!

  • I would definitely order one for the home I live in now which I hope to be the final house. I love the idea of the kids coming back to their house someday with their kids!

  • I would definitely get one for myself. We've been in our house for about 18 months now, and will be getting married soon, so this would be perfect!

  • We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved dog; so I would choose a portrait of our home, the place where we shared nearly sixteen years of wonderful memories.

  • I would have one made of our current house. It has special meaning to us, it was the first house we bought together. We plan to stay here until our children are grown and have families of their own.

  • Would keep for myself as we're moving into a new house after 9 years in our current beloved home! But I'd also love to share with several friends locally who have been significantly affected by the recent flooding and are making new home decisions – would be a great way to hold onto the memories of their dear homes!

  • Wow – cool. I would have one made for myself! Already follow you on IG and if not on FB, I will be following you there too!

  • We live in a lighthouse keeper's house that is provided with my husband's job. He is going to retire next summer, and we will have to leave this lovely place, so I would give it to my husband as a reminder of the happy years spent living in this awesome place! Either way, I will have one done for him…either by winning or by purchasing! What a great idea!

  • Hard choice! I'd love to gift a portrait to my mom. We just bought our first house and I would love a portrait of it, too! I love Emily's work. It is so dreamy!

  • Love to have a custom house portrait made for friends who have bought a new home in Seattle. They have been gypsies for a while now so to be finally home is wonderful for them. We miss them but am so happy for them.

  • I would LOVE to have this done for our home. We live in a 100+ year old Victorian style home and are currently having it repainted. This would be an amazing gift for my hubby since our home is his dream home.
Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!

  • I have to admit, we would get it for ourselves. We celebrated a year over the weekend in our first house we purchased last October. I have always wanted one of these house portraits. Love it and love your website!

  • I love this idea!! I'd keep it for myself. For Sure. However, If I knew buying heir first house right now…it would be a great Christmas present

  • First let me say I love your site, I have never commented before, always followed. I would get this for my 7 yr. old grandson. He is moving from his only home that he has ever lived in to a new home. He seems to be struggling with this move. It seems that 2 yrs ago he wished for a baby sister. After, a very hard time and several attempts his wish came true and he was blessed with a baby sister. As children grow so do their toys, belongings and you seem to outgrow your home. They are now in the process of packing and moving on to another home. He has had several breakdowns over this move. I think this would be the perfect gift to give him to remember his home. I think if I don't win this I will purchase this with the discount as a gift to remember his home forever. Thank you.

  • How fun!! I'd definitely gift this to my mom. She lives in the home I grew up in with my brother. My dad built the home from a small bungalow that existed on the property when they first bought it in 1976. It's now absolutely gorgeous. She is so proud of the home and keeps the landscaping and upkeep all on her own. We suddenly lost my dad 4 years ago and having this special picture of our family home would mean the world to her, and to me. 🙂

  • So cool! I am on the fence – I would love to have a drawing of our current house or one of the house my grandma lived in when I was growing up. I have so many great memories of staying there with her in the summertime. The house was torn down about 15 years ago to make way for the widening of the road she lived on (it was near a university). It was an early 1900s bungalow. When she moved I took some of the glass doorknobs & have kept them all this time. I have contemplated for years what to do with them & have decided to try to make a coat rack by mounting them on a distressed piece of cedar.

  • I'd keep it for my current home. This is where we brought our babies home, so although it's not the forever house, it will hold some of the biggest memories.

  • I'd get one made for my mother in law. She lives in the most charming victorian house on horse property. It is so picturesque.

  • I would use it as a gift for my husband. We are in the process of renovating a 60 year old barn. We have plans to sell our current home and move into the barn.

  • I would keep it for myself and husband. Our house model is called the Kara–which is our daughter's name. We just built it a year ago. Kara passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in December 2009. karaannelang.blogspot.com

  • We are moving in a few weeks and I would love a portrait of our current house to give to my husband. It was his first grown up purchase!

  • I absolutely love this. My husband and I just moved from our first home together outside of Boston to our new home near Philadelphia. We adore our new home but still miss things about our old house. I would get a drawing of our New England Colonial to hang here to always remind of us the great times we spent there.

  • I would love to give this to my parents for Christmas! My childhood home represents so much more than just the structure itself but the love, respect and special bond our family has.

  • I love what you did with your past houses and I would love to do that. I would definitely get a picture of our last house. We just moved in May (although we still own the other) and I would love to start this tradition.

  • I would have one made of the farm house my MIL grew up in and my husbands uncle still lives in. He is the fourth or fifth generation to live there. Next year(I think) the farm will be 150 years old. My husband is a 6th generation family farmer. My MIL would love it! But it would neat hanging in our house too. 😉

  • Would love a keepsake from a house I lived I for 31 years. It would make having to leave my home so much easier.

  • I have been wanting to get one of these from our old house we moved out of 2 years ago. Something to remind me of where we brought home our newborns! It holds special memories for us.

  • A gift. I'd love to gift this to my grandpa using the picture of our family cabin. My grandma passed away and he now lives in an assisted living center. The cabin was our family spot and it still is.

  • I'd give it to my mom – we grew up in an adorable log cabin on a lake in Michigan. Work and family took my parents to Florida, but that first tiny cabin was their dream house. Following all!

  • I would get one for my parents. It's the house my mom grew up in and the house she raised her children. The house isn't much but what a sweet place filled with many memories past and many memories to come! All followed on Instagram and Facebook!

  • I've been wanting one of these made of my grandparents' home! They both passed away last year and now we are selling their home. It would serve as a reminder of not only a godly couple, but the importance of making memories together. I'm following on Instagram and Facebook!

  • I would definitely keep it! I love our house, but we are approaching retirement and will move to a smaller home. This would be a treasured memory.

  • I would have to be selfish and have our house done… That would probably mean I should repaint the outside…. Which we haven't gotten around to since moving in…
