Spring Front Porch Tour

Hey there and happy Thursday friends!  Today I’m participating in a Spring Home Tour Blog Hop organized by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life.  Fun fact, Marty was the very first person to ever comment on my blog.  She’s so supportive and encouraging, and I’m honored she asked me to participate in this blog hop with so many creative home bloggers.   So if you’re just joining the party grab another cup of coffee and get cozy because there’s lots of spring inspiration coming your way today.  If you’re popping over here from Life Love Larson, I’m Carmel and I’m happy to welcome you to Our Fifth House……..which actually now is our sixth house.  We moved from Lexington, KY to Charleston, SC, last summer, but I kept the blog name.  😉

spring blog hop - welcome to Our Fifth House - Carmel

Anyhow, thanks so much for stopping by!  I blog about interiors, mostly sharing simple decorating ideas and easy to accomplish diy projects.  I also share recipes, travel reports and book reviews from time to time.  Today I’m giving you all a little tour of our front porches looking very spring-ified.

spring green - pink door

I painted our front door pink (Sherwin Williams Rachel Pink) last fall.  It was one of my first projects here at the new house, and I’ve yet to regret the decision.  Coming home to this happy pink door puts a smile on my face.

spring flower baskets

I couldn’t wait for the garden centers to start booming again as I was dying to get some baskets on our porch railings.  I just love flower baskets.  A little tip I use to keep my baskets from drying out too fast is I add a couple of kitchen sponges to the bottom when I’m filling them.  It helps to keep the moisture in there a little longer which is great in the hot, summer months.

You can find me out here reading after dinner most nights.

Moving on to the top porch.  I’ve basically claimed it as my “outdoor office”.  It’s where I’ve been blogging from since the weather warmed up.  Not a bad place to work.  And my furry assistant agrees.

Almost two years ago I revamped this old campaign style trunk to use an outdoor coffee table, and it’s still going strong.

So friends, that brings us to the end of our spring front porch tour!

I would bring you all inside, but I’m working on more than a couple projects at the moment and it’s a bit of a mess.  But I’ll be back next week with my newly decorated entry foyer, so be sure to come back.  You can take a peek at the progress right here.  Here’s a preview.

Thanks for coming to visit!  I wish I could spend my day sitting right here, but there’s more painting to be done inside.

  • Love your home with 2 fabulous porches and you’ve made them such great outdoor spaces to enjoy with beautiful furniture and accessories. Love that pink door too.

  • Your home is gorgeous! I love the contrast of the pink door against the green. And hey, two porches?! I’m turning green! Love it!

  • What a gorgeous house! My house is green with a beautiful pink door also. I’m in Iowa and we had a Hellacious spring blizzard last night….14 inches of heavy wet snow. Looking at your home brought spring back for a few minutes!

  • Those porches are to die for. Just a tad jealous! I adore your bold color choice for the front door.

  • I absolutely love your choice in colors! I have a pale yellow house and am wanting to paint my chipped red door something different, any suggestions?!
I am right down the road in beautiful Beaufort! Love your blog, you do a fantastic job!

  • There’s a pale yellow house in my neighborhood that has a really pretty seafoam green front door….it also has gas lanterns and I kind of gasp it’s so beautiful every time I pass by. I think any color in the blue/green family would be great with a pale yellow. Sherwin Williams has a great line of exterior historic paints. I’d recommend checking them out!

  • Your house is beautiful, we just built a new Acadian home and I would love to use that shade of green on my home. Can you please tell me what color and brand it is…thank you so much.

  • LOVELY! BIG fan of the pink door!! I want a pink house. GREAT tip with the sponge in the planter.

  • When I tell you how much I love your house, I can’t express the scale of my feelings for that exterior. I know I’m not alone though because when I was expressing my feelings for it on Instagram it was obvious that other people felt the same way because it was one of the most liked photos on my feed. It’s just so happy and beautiful. And then I felt terrible because it wasn’t my own photo I posted and I so wish it was mine 😉 Major home envy here!

  • And I’m a hard because my link showed up as this tour and not your new tour and I commented on the wrong one. Double oops where is my coffee because I clearly need more.

  • You have such a beautiful home and your porch? Perfect! I love what you did with the campaign trunk/table! I scored a desk/vanity at goodwill and still on the fence about painting it, but after seeing your piece, maybe I will! So happy to share this home tour with you! Cheers!

  • Thanks so much Julia!! We’re really grateful to have landed in our dream city! Thanks for sharing with your tribe – I made a bunch of new friends that day. 😉

  • Can you please please please tell me what paint colors you used for the green and the blue in the gable?!

  • Our house color is Sherwin Williams Charleston Green and the ceiling is HGTV by Sherwin Williams (found at Lowe’s) Watery.
