Today I’m participating in a virtual spring house tour hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life. Â I’ve had spring fever for weeks now, and I recently cleaned and spruced up our screen porch for the season. Â If you’re popping over from the last stop on the tour over at Thrifty and Chic, welcome! Â I’m Carmel, a design-obsessed, diy-dabbler who loves iced coffee, reading lunch breaks (check out my latest book review here) and extra guacamole on everything! Â You can find out more about me here.
We basically live on our screen porch year round, as the temperatures here in the Charleston, South Carolina area rarely dip down too low.  I love giving this space a seasonal update with just a few simple decor changes!
Welcome to our favorite spot to entertain, relax, read and roast marshmallows!
Blush, Denim and Pineapples
Last year I painted our screen door pink (to match our front door).  We have a dog door and the white paint always looked so dirty and dingy.  The pink has really helped to hide the dirt, and this happy-colored door has inspired me to infuse a bit more of this soft, pastel hue into the space.
(pineapple pillow, stripe, denim, blush velvet)
I love the combination of blush pink paired with denim and navy blue. Â Since this outdoor space is pretty well covered I don’t worry too much about using exclusively outdoor fabrics. Â The softer textiles make spending time out here feel so comfy and cozy.
I’ve been trying to start getting up earlier to begin my day with a quiet cup of coffee out here, but that doesn’t always work out the way I’d like it to.  Unfortunately, I’m not exactly an early bird.  😉
Last year I worked with Lowe’s Home Improvement to give our screen porch a makeover, and pretty much everything has remained the same except for the accessories.  We use the heck out of that fire table, and I feel like it begs me to roast a marshmallow just about every night.  I’m still trying to decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.  😉
We recently, and by we I mean my hub, put up some outdoor string lights.  I had the hardest time sourcing white outdoor lights last year, so I scooped these bad boys up as soon I stumbled across them this year!  I love that they blend in with the white trim around the top, so you really don’t notice them until they’re lit up at night.  Plus they’re a great addition for entertaining!  They’re really fun and festive.
I love pink hydrangeas! Â Especially so when paired with terra-cotta pots!
Speaking of entertaining, this outdoor bar cart, sourced from Lowe’s online, is such a work horse!
And P.S. This Segura Viudas Rose Cava, you can find at World Market, is such a great one for the price. Â It only runs about $8 a bottle. Â Unless you get a case which saves an additional 30% off! Â It’s absolutely perfect for a spring/summer soiree!
Favorite Time of Day
While I’m still working on becoming a morning person, I’d have to say my favorite time of day out here is happy hour.  🙂
This is such a great space to end a long day. Â The light and the mood changes as the sun starts to set.
