If you follow me on Instagram you already know that last week I had the amazing opportunity to tour the 2017 HGTV Smart Home courtesy of Legrand, one of the sponsors. It was a quick 24 hour trip to Scottsdale, AZ, where I enjoyed a cozy night at the gorgeous Andaz resort and got to spend some quality time with my girl, Courtney.
I’ve only ever been to Scottsdale once before many moons ago for a conference, so I found the desert landscape to be a nice change of scenery. The Andaz bungalow style rooms and colorful decor were very welcoming. The cactus-shaped macaron that was delivered to my room was quite the happy little surprise! What a wonderful way to extend some hospitality! If you’re ever in the Scottsdale area visiting, I’d highly recommend checking out this resort! I would love to go back again someday!
Smart Home – Inspired Design
The HGTV Smart Home did not disappoint! I came home completely inspired by the amazing design work of Tiffany Brooks and the smart, yet chic solutions contributed to the home by Legrand.
Who knew a high tech home could be so stylish? This home boasts so many cool, innovative features that work perfectly for today’s lifestyle yet the focus remains on the beauty of the design throughout the house. The modern architecture and desert-inspired color palette work together so beautifully.
Entry Foyer
(adorne Wi-Fi Ready Touch Switch from Legrand)
The Legrand light switches and outlets throughout the home not only compliment and blend in with the design, but they bring in modern conveniences. The wi-fi ready switches pictured above are part of their app based lighting control. Can you even believe it? There is literally an app for that!
Living Room
This ranch style home feels spacious and grand in size due in large part to the vaulted living room that welcomes you as soon as you step inside. Well placed windows and skylights in this open floor plan provide an abundance of beautiful, natural light. The light fixtures throughout the home are absolutely stunning and well appointed thanks to dimmers from Legrand.
*It’s hard to tell in the photo above, but there are doors there on that fireplace facade that completely close to cover the television. When closed you would never know there’s a tv in there. I’m filing this genius idea away for my future dream home.
Dining Room
I thought this wall treatment was moulding…….but this is paint! Pure genius!
(Tru-Universal Dimmer from the radiant collection)
The pattern and color play in this space is invigorating; modern yet timeless.
Kitchen
Without a doubt the kitchen was my favorite room in the house! I think I actually gasped. These pictures really just don’t do this space justice at all. The combination of black and white with the copper metallic accents is absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful. I’m seriously obsessed with this copper subway tile!
The waterfall countertop on the island breaks up the black cabinetry and creates the perfect center point for this gorgeous space. The adorne Pop-Out Outlet in magnesium on the side of the island is so cool. It hides away when not in use, but when needed provides three places to plug in……perfect for a hardworking kitchen. I feel like islands never have enough outlets, so I thought this little gem was pretty awesome!
I really love the way Tiffany used a large piece of furniture to fill this wall on the other side of the island. It warms up the kitchen and makes the space feel less utilitarian yet provides tons of functional storage! And can we have a moment for this light fixture over the island? This isn’t a light fixture really; it’s a sculpture! Just love!
In a window-less kitchen of a ranch-style home skylights make so much sense. They bring in beautiful natural lighting and make this somewhat small-ish kitchen feel really airy and spacious.
As aesthetically pleasing as this kitchen is, it’s also a workhorse for the modern family. Legrand’s adorne Under-Cabinet Lighting and Power System provide music, light and charging stations for devices. Perfect for those times when you want to actually make a recipe you’ve pinned to your Pinterest board.
Pantry – Laundry
All I can say is #pantrygoals. I mean, am I right?! I could live in here!
And I’ve got nothing but heart eyes for this black and white tile flooring that flows from the kitchen to the pantry and laundry room.
The barn door to the laundry room in this narrow hallway is such a smart move. This laundry room is so bright and beautiful you might actually like doing laundry in here.
I love bright colors in a laundry room! You need a dose of a happy when you’re doing mundane house chores!
Wet Bar – An Entertainer’s Dream
This little space off of the living room and just inside the glass sliding door from the backyard is absolutely perfect for entertaining!
I’m currently trying to figure out how I can get one of these bad boys into my home. Seriously though.
Master Suite
The moody charcoal walls and navy velvet upholstery in the master bedroom creates a luxurious resting spot.
As beautiful as this space is though, the master bathroom really steals the show. The way the tile is laid out around the separate vanities that flank the doorway makes this subway tile feel so fresh and modern.
It truly creates a stunning statement above each sink.
Under cabinet lighting and wi-fi ready switches compliment the clean, modern aesthetic.
And this master closet is the stuff of dreams!
Guest Suites
Each of the two guest bedrooms boast their own private bathrooms and closets.
They’re both beautiful, but I’m partial to this one. This burnt orange is just so warm and inviting.
And as you can see the outlets and light switches fit seamlessly into the design.
Takeaways
Tiffany Brooks did such an amazing job designing this house. Not one detail was overlooked. Every space feels fresh and exciting, yet the entire home flows flawlessly from one room to the next. Special moments in every room give this house so much personality. I love how Tiffany drew upon the desert landscape locale of the home for color inspiration yet nothing about the design feels overly theme-y. She meshed color and pattern in such a beautiful way, and did some really fun things design-wise (like the painted wall treatment in the dining room). Her design fearlessness has paid off in a major way!
It was such a joy to tour this amazing home! Thanks very much to Legrand for the invite. It’s so great to see companies like Legrand marrying form with function to bring high design to the things we have to have in a home…..like outlets and light switches. I really love it when companies get that we want everything in our homes to be as beautiful as they are functional!
I’m impressed and inspired! I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of the HGTV Smart Home! My girl, Courtney, will be sharing her recap of this trip tomorrow. Be sure to stop by her blog to check it out! And mark your calendars, the HGTV Smart Home giveaway starts April 12th!
Gorgeous house! That marble countertop is amazing!
