most comfortable mattress – gelfoambed review

I had no idea just how bad my daughter’s mattress was until a few months ago when I slept in her bed.  She hurt her knee pretty badly at the start of the summer (trampolines are accidents just waiting to happen) and the first couple nights she was in so much pain I slept with her in bed.  My own bed is so far off the ground that I didn’t think it would be a good idea for her to sleep in bed with the hubs and I, but man did it ever feel like a punishment for me to have to sleep on her hard as a rock mattress.  Thankfully her knee healed pretty quickly, but after realizing just how awful her mattress was I decided to get her a new one.  When I received an email from GelFoamBed wondering if I’d like to review a mattress at Our Fifth House, I jumped at the chance.  The timing was just too perfect.  Plus, since they offer a 100-night risk-free guarantee I figured trying this mattress was worth a shot.

This baby has been mom tested, little girlfriend tested, mini-schnauzer tested and overwhelmingly approved!  🙂

I’m pretty sure little girlfriend went from having the worst mattress in the house to having the best one.  This mattress is off the charts amazing on the comfort scale!

Apparently what makes a GelFoamBed mattress so great is the revolutionary pressure-sensitive Serene Foam enhanced with billions of microscopic air capsules proven to increase self-adjusting support while simultaneously reducing pressure on key areas of the body, such as the lower back.  GelFoamBed specializes in technologically-advanced products to offer a comfortable, rejuvenating sleep experience.  Honestly, all of that technology talk didn’t make much sense to me until I laid down on this thing and felt for myself just how awesome it is.

Apart from how amazingly comfortable this mattress is, what surprised me the most was the cost for the quality.  Mattresses can be quite costly, and I expected the price point here to be ridiculously high considering their advanced technology, free shipping and 100-night risk-free guarantee.  But GelFoamBed is able to keep their prices low because every bed is made to order.  They don’t stock excess inventory, so they’re able to keep overhead low.  They also employ a lean manufacturing process using only 100% US materials.  Plus, you are buying direct from the factory when you purchase your mattress from gelfoambed.com.

While their prices are already great, they’re currently offering Our Fifth House readers a $50 discount with code ourfifthhouse!!!

GelFoamBed offers 3 styles – medium firm, medium plush and super plush.  The plusher the mattress the taller it is – 10″, 12″ and 14″ respectively.  I chose the medium firm which is the most popular because I didn’t want the mattress to come up any higher on the headboard, and I wanted regular full size sheets to fit.

All in all, my girl is pretty pumped about her new mattress…….and her freshly painted coral bed (more on that coming soon).  I’m so glad my girl has a comfy place to dream!  And it’s nice to know if I ever have to share her bed again I won’t wake up with a back ache.  😉

Elsa is also a fan……of the mattress.  I don’t think she cares what color the bed is.   😉

** Just in case you were wondering:

What is a sponsored post?  A sponsored post is one in which I have been either compensated and/or provided with free product in order to write a review.

How can you as a reader trust that my thoughts and opinions are 100 percent genuine if a post is being sponsored?  The only reviews I post are those in which I found the product, brand, experience to be favorable and would recommend said product, brand or experience.  In other words, there are many times where I have been given a product and found it to be unsatisfactory or did not feel comfortable promoting or endorsing said product.  In those instances I have politely offered to return the products or refund any monies to the company in question as I am neither comfortable writing unfavorable reviews or endorsing things I don’t genuinely believe in.  Every blogger probably has a different stance or view on this, but as for me and Our Fifth House, my readers are more important to me than free product or money.  I tell my kids all the time – the most important thing about you that no one can ever take away from you is your integrity.  I live by those words both in the real world and on the internet.

  • You will be richly rewarded in all the ways that matter by living your integrity and teaching it to your children…way to go Carmel! Also, timely for me, as we are just entering the “there are so many mattresses out there, what’s the best one” battle! We will check this one out for sure!

  • Thanks so much Joanne! The 100 night risk free trial makes trying one stress free. Such a great thing to offer on a mattress purchase because you really can’t tell how you’re going to feel sleeping on it when you’re testing them in a store.

  • Did you buy box springs or just the mattress? If I am reading correctly, they recommend you don’t need a mattress pad. What are your thoughts on that?

  • We already had the box spring. Yes you don’t need a mattress pad. If you have a child that still wets the bed you may want to use something to protect but other than that there’s no need with these mattresses.

  • I would like to know what sheets you use for a 10″ bed. Mine is about 10″ and all the sheets now are ‘deep’ and WAY too loose.

  • I typically buy sheets at either Target or HomeGoods. I’ve not had any issue with them being too loose – but I also wash our sheets on hot, so that may cause them to shrink a little.
