As you know I was late to the One Room Challenge party. It’s already week two! Yikes! Time is flying. All things considered though I feel like I’m doing pretty good so far because the room I’m making over was previously painted. Plus I’m mostly just working with what I’ve got. However, I am bringing in a few new things. At this point I’m just hoping and praying that the items I’ve ordered arrive in time.
Guest Room Design Plan
The color palette of my original design plan for the guest bedroom was mostly neutrals with a few pops of color. But then (famous last words) I stumbled across this bed on sale, and my neutral plan went right out the window.  Hello color! Come to Mama!
Pillows, Bed, Rug, Umbrella Print
I decided to replace the metal bed I originally bought for my son. It’s a good bed for a kid. I’m not sure it’s the sturdiest option for two adults to share. Since most of our overnight guests are couples I want a bed in here that will be both comfortable and beautiful. Since I didn’t invest much in the metal bed I don’t feel bad letting it go to bring in something that will be more substantial. I bought this red linen upholstered bed on sale and plan to sell the metal bed to offset the cost even more. I think the tufting on the headboard will tie in nicely with the tufting on the black leather chairs.
As you can plainly see, I’m currently having a moment with the red and turquoise combination. I dig the retro vibe of this happy color duo. My plan is to balance these powerful punches of color by keeping the walls and curtain panels light and neutral.
So this is the base of my design plan. Everything else is still somewhat up in the air. Just slightly insane when you’re in a time crunch. Though I will say this challenge is helping me to stay focused on this space, which is always tough for me in my home.
Feel free to follow along on Instagram Stories for behind the scenes progress on this room. And be sure to check out the progress and design plans of the other participants and design bloggers involved in this challenge!
You’re doing great.
