Well, here goes nothing. I’m once again jumping into the One Room Challenge. You know the 6 week design challenge hosted by Calling It Home and sponsored by House Beautiful where 20 design bloggers and countless participants challenge themselves to completely makeover a space in just 6 weeks?! For an HGTV show, 6 weeks is a lifetime, but in the real world 6 weeks to totally transform a room in your home is straight up crazy town! But so is doing a Whole 30 or a 6 week body boot camp……apparently our generation has a thing for crazy. 😉
Anyhow, some of you may remember from my last and first attempt at participating in the challenge last fall that things didn’t exactly go as planned. As in my guest bedroom was not “finished” by the reveal date. #wompwomp
It did however come a very long way during that time and much of the progress made was due in large part to the challenge. (I’ll actually be revealing that room here on the blog in the next few weeks!)
Round Two
I’ve realized that even though I didn’t finish during the last go around taking on the challenge was the exact motivation I needed. Sometimes you need a push, a shove……a challenge, to get inspired! At least that’s how it goes for me. So, I’m diving back in again! And this time, I’m planning to makeover the jack-and-jill bathroom that joins the guest bedroom with my daughter’s room.
Before
I had plans to start working on a makeover in this space last year…..but the holidays crept up on me, and my design energy got zapped.
The good news is all this bathroom really needs is some personality. A toilet paper holder and a towel bar/ hooks would be really nice too. 😉
I plan to get happy with paint and accessories! But I’ll be real honest with you. At this very moment in time, I still don’t have a design plan nailed down.
My goal is to play off of the colors in the two adjoining bedrooms. I want this bathroom to feel fun and fresh for my daughter who uses this space every day, but I don’t want it to feel overly juvenile. With our guests sharing this bathroom when they come to stay with us, it’s important to me that they feel welcome.
So there’s a lot to consider, and I’m hoping to have a plan together by next week. 😉
Thanks to Calling It Home for hosting this fun challenge. Be sure to check out the designers projects and see what all the participants are up to as well!
Hi, I love your blog and I read all the time but never comment. Can you tell me where I can get the painting of the girl walking the dog in your daughter’s room? It would be darling for my daughter’s room too! Thx!
