DIY Basket Pendant Light

After spending way too much time online trying to source the right lighting option for my girl’s room, I ended up running across a pendant light kit at World Market for $12.99 and decided to just make one.

The DIY Details

I found the perfect vintage basket at a local consignment shop.  To zhush it up a bit I added some wood bead and tassel fringe I bought at Hobby Lobby.  This was the easiest diy ever!  All it required was a pair of scissors and a hot glue gun.  I think all in all the total cost for this basket pendant ended up being around $35.  And the end result is just so fun and unique.  I’m in such major love!

The addition of the tassels give it such a sweet, whimsical look.  I’m just slightly obsessed with this burlap tassel fringe.

I love the texture it adds to my girl’s room.  It’s simple and sweet!

You can find this hard-wired pendant light kit on World Market’s website in either black or silver (couldn’t find the brushed gold online).  You might be able to find it in your local store.  Or you can use this one or this one, both of which are very similar, to make your own basket pendant.  Thrift shops and consignment stores are filled with lots of cool baskets.  All you have to do is cut a small hole in the bottom of your basket to make your own one-of-a-kind pendant light!

Just a few more things to do in here.  Then my girl’s room will be officially “done”.
