Some times for no reason whatsoever I decide to move things in my home.  For example, you see this red vintage rug I had layered on the bleached natural fiber rug in my living room?

Just for kicks one day a couple of weeks ago I decided to move it over to the dining room.  I just wanted to see how it would look.  And I totally love it in here!

It’s such a fun change, and I love that it didn’t cost me anything but a stubbed toe from moving furniture around on my own.  😉

Of course……..

One Change Always Leads to Another

……….and now I’m considering bringing in something else to layer over the living room rug.  Like maybe a cowhide?   Or maybe I’m just so used to seeing something layered in here that I feel like it needs something because that’s what I’m accustomed to in here?   What are your thoughts?  Is this a nice, neutral change or does it look too bare in the living room now?

Either way it’s fun to breathe new life into rooms by shopping your house and just playing with new arrangements.  Although my husband might argue that shopping the house almost always leads to shopping outside the house.  😉

Do you like to play musical rugs, furniture, lamps, house accessories, as much as I do?

  • Cowhide! I have one over my natural rig and I love the look. A bit different from another traditional rug.

  • I like it a lot! I do not feel the living room is too bare – I actually like the cleaner look for spring/summer, it’s very fresh-looking. Heck, then maybe switch the rug back in the fall or winter? Yes, I like shopping the house, and I agree one change leads to another, and often another and another and then yes… shopping outside the home…

  • It does seem a bit monochromatic without the rug. I’d be tempted to bring in another in a new color.

  • The way it is now! Looks great…love it in the dining room. Simple changes are the best!

  • I think it’s so light and summery with the one rug; I vote to leave it for the season!

  • I like the lighter look for the summer! I am constantly moving rugs around my house. Drives my husband crazy, but I like to mix things up. Mine are all 9×13 so it’s a good workout too! ? On the cowhide, I’ve dont that look before and it drove me crazy. With dogs and kids, it was constantly getting bunched up and the “arms” were constantly folded over. If you do use one, you really have to tape it down so it’s not constantly shifting. I love the look though. We moved it to our mountain house so I can still enjoy it without being aggravated by it daily. ?
