Rose Sorbet Mimosa or Charleston Sunset – You Decide

Today I’m joining a group of my favorite blogging buddies in hosting a Summer Progressive Dinner Party.  This virtual soiree is the dream child of my girl Heather from Southern State of Mind, and my contribution to this fun little shindig could either be served as a pre-dinner cocktail or an after dinner dessert!

It’s the easiest, yet tastiest refreshing summer treat!  You’ll either love me or hate me when you get hooked on these.  Ha!

Brunch or Signature Cocktail

Putting this simple concoction in a champagne flute makes it totally acceptable for brunch.  #praisehands

But this is also the perfect signature cocktail to serve for a summer dinner party.  There is just something so fun and festive about creating a signature drink for an evening of entertaining dinner guests.  And a two-ingredient cocktail means it’s festive without the fuss.  #fistbump

Ingredients

As already mentioned you need only two ingredients to create this magic.

  1. Rose – preferably sparkling – I’m personally a HUGE fan of Segura Viudas Cava Brut Rose.  You can find it just about everywhere, but World Market often offers the best price.  It’s less than $12 a bottle, and when you buy 4 or more bottles you get a 10% discount.  Don’t judge me for knowing this.  Thank me.  😉  segura viudas
  2. Blood Orange Sorbet – You could use any flavor sorbet really, but I prefer orange.  The beauty of using a sorbet is that your dairy free friends can still partake.

Served as a Dessert

If you put these same two ingredients into a cute little single serving trifle dish you’ll end up with the best light summer dessert!  Just use a little more sorbet than you do rose.  And for an added bit of fun add some sugar sprinkles on top and garnish with an orange slice!

Because it’s pink and orange I’ve coined this dessert cocktail-concoction a “Charleston Sunset”.  Who doesn’t want a Charleston Sunset for dessert?!

Little tip  – make this kid appropriate by subbing the rose for pink sparkling lemonade.

  • Carmel these look wonderful but I need to know where you got the black and white with butterflies straws??????

  • I linked the black and white paper straws under one of the photos. Picked them up at Target, and then I found these cute little butterflies at Hobby Lobby. They have a bendable wire attached to them so you can add them on to anything – I use then quite a lot as napkin rings around spring and summer!

  • You had me at Mimosa, or wait…Sorbet! No, actually Rose! Love this bar cart set-up and will definitely be giving these a taste test after baby comes this summer. It’s so pretty and has so many of my favorite ingredients! Loved hosting with you! Cheers to summer 🙂

  • Charleston Sunset? Yesssss. This sounds so fun and festive and I’m def adding a bottle (or four) of that rose to my World Market list. Thanks for joining the soirée! I seriously need to plan a dinner party.
