My girl has been begging me to repaint her bedroom dresser all white for quite some time now.
Many of you might remember its previous look ~ this fun aqua and white color combination. But my twelve year old girl is now “over her aqua phase” (those are her words not mine), so she was ready for something a little more subdued. And because she wasn’t asking for something completely crazy, like neon green, I decided to oblige her furniture makeover request.

DIY Details
I used the same type and color of paint as I used on the drawer fronts a few years ago, Amy Howard At Home One Step Paint in Bauhaus Buff. And I was pleased to find that there was little to no color variation despite there being a few years between when I painted the drawer fronts and when I finally got around to painting the base of the dresser this same shade of white.
Bauhaus Buff is a white with a grey-ish undertone. I’ve used this brand of paint for a few years now and am always happy with the end result. When I’m painting furniture, I like to use these 4 inch foam rollers and these short handled angled paint brushes for a smooth application. I didn’t do much distressing this time around, and instead opted for a really simple, clean finish. Once the paint was dry, I added a couple coats of polycrylic for a smooth, protective finish.
The All White After
The white looks so lovely against her grey-ish white walls (Sherwin Williams Shoji White). And this tone-on-tone look also makes the room appear larger as the dresser almost disappears against the wall color. Now the coral bed and that large, gorgeous mirror really steal the show in here!
Speaking of the gorgeous mirror, I snagged this beaut during last year’s Black Friday sale for 50% off! I feel like it was meant to be paired with this dresser. Her room looks so fun feminine and lovely.
The modern red lamp was a Goodwill find, but I don’t think it’s old. I have a feeling it’s from Ikea maybe? Not sure, but there are tiny holes in the metal shade and at night this lamp is so, so pretty! It feels whimsical but not overly kid-ish.
My girl’s room is one of the happiest rooms in the house! The afternoon light that shines through this window makes these colors come alive.
This space fits her 12 year old self perfectly. And more often than not when I pass by the floor is littered with shoes. 😉
