Three Spring Backyard Projects

Spring is my favorite season for outdoor projects.  The weather is just perfect for working outside as it’s not too hot or humid yet.  Plus after spending so much time indoors over the winter months, I’m always ready to get outside by the time April rolls around.  Although, this spring since we’ll be selling our house in the near future I won’t be getting into any fun backyard projects.  But in case you’re itching for a great little backyard diy, here are three simple ones that you could totally knock out in a weekend!

DIY Grill Station

This grill station was such an easy project, and it’s one that has really served us well!

Plus it was super inexpensive!  These are just cinder blocks that I painted.  You can get all the diy details and see more pictures here.

DIY Garden Box

Garden boxes are so simple to build.  And you don’t even have to own a saw!   It’s so nice to have fresh herbs and vegetables on hand all summer long!

Firepit

I never blogged about the firepit we did here at this house, but we basically recreated what we did in the backyard of our fifth house.  And I just realized this is the only picture I have of it, this sad peek of it through the blinds of our master bedroom.  But you can at least get the gist of what we did here.

We used retaining wall pavers and then put down a gravel surround with a path leading back to the patio area.  Sad I don’t have better pictures to share because we use this backyard fire pit quite a bit.

Are you itching to get outdoors and get a little weekend warrior action going?  Do you have any fun backyard projects on your agenda this spring?  I have a feeling my first project at the new house will be a garden.  There is just nothing better than growing herbs and veggies right in your own backyard!

  • Spring is my favorite season (just edging out autumn – and in the South, I do NOT like summer 😉 I was out getting the yard & garden prepped the past few weekends….And suffering from allergies in response. Ugh. And in NC, apparently our growing season is now 28 days longer than it used to be, so more time to be allergic to something 🙂 But the early season seeds are in, everything is pruned and fertilized, and if it stops freezing at night, hopefully we’ll have some sprouts soon…. This weekend, making some patio cushion slipcovers…..We rearranged furniture from patio to porch and I’m getting new cushions for the chairs that need it and slipcovering the cushions that are still ok….
