Summer Reading List – 2022

Well, friends, it’s officially SUMMER! And I’m ready to get my book girl summer on! I normally share what I’ve already read because I personally live for book reviews as they help me so much when I’m trying to decide what to read next. But what I also find really helpful is hearing and seeing what is on someone’s to-be-read list. So with that in mind, here’s my Summer Reading List!

I’m not normally a big “beach read” kind of girl. But after so many heavy reads – Crying in H Mart, Between Two Kingdoms, She Said, The Push, The Lincoln Highway, Brain On Fire, and My Year of Rest and Relaxation, just to name a few – I’m ready for light, hopeful, and heart-warming with maybe a little romance and a sliver of family drama. 😉

When I mentioned I was looking for beach read recommendations, all of my friends pointed me toward Emily Henry. I’ve never read anything by her. But since she came so highly recommended, I decided to dive all the way in and picked up three of hers – People We Meet On Vacation, Beach Read & Book Lovers.

This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub sounds like it has a bit of a 13 Going on 30 vibe as the main character is on the eve of her 40th birthday and wakes up the next morning to find herself back in 1996 on her 16th birthday. There’s a father-daughter relationship in this one that has me ready to dive in before Father’s Day. And I’m already looking forward to the late 90’s nostalgia! This is also our June pick for my Instagram Book Club.

I had no idea that Judy Blume wrote adult fiction until a friend recommended I add Summer Sisters to my list. This story is set in Martha’s Vineyard in the late ’70s – early ’80s. I’ve already started this one. I’m about 100 pages in, and I’m interested to see where this story is going to go.

Every Summer After by Carly Fortune is a debut novel that everyone seems to be falling in love with, and I can’t wait to crack her open! This one sounds like it’s going to have all the makings of the perfect beach read, so I plan to wait for the perfect summer weekend to get lost in this story.

So that’s what I’ll have packed in my beach tote this summer! What’s on your summer reading list?!
