Seven Random Things?

About me?  Ummmm…..hmmmmm…..let me think.  So Jen over at Dishes and Socks awarded me the the Versatile Blogger Award.

How sweet huh?!  It came with “rules”.  So here’s what I’m supposed to do.
1.  Thank the person that awarded you by linking back to them in your post – check.
2.  Tell 7 random things about yourself.  Ok, you asked for this!

Uno – I drive a minivan – don’t judge me – my dual dvd’s will take you down 🙂  Hey, it’s a Volkswagen so it’s cool right?!
Dos – My dad is Puerto Rican and my mom is Japanese and Mexican, and I don’t speak any other language but English.  Say whaaaaaaat?!  Big thanks to mom and dad!  I could’ve been fluent in 3 languages!  Times were different back then I guess (not that I’m that old), and they thought they were doing me a favor?  I can count in Spanish and know a few (not so nice) words, but that’s all folks.  As far as the Japanese goes my mom doesn’t speak the language either even though she actually went to Japanese school.  My Japanese grandmother potty trained me so I can say pee and poop in Japanese – isn’t that nice?  🙂  (Never in a million years would I have thought the words “pee” or “poop” would ever come up on this blog of mine.)  Oh yeah and I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and still nothing.  Shameful, I know!  I blame my mom and dad, Mr. Hinojos (my spanish teacher), and the red headed boy in my Spanish class that I had a crush on my sophomore year 🙂
Tres – I know all the words to every song of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and the real truth is I knew them before I had kids.  My favorite is Poor Unfortunate Souls (sung by Ursula the sea witch).  Your judging aren’t you?  – seriously stop 🙂
Quatro – I think you could learn a lot about life from Dr. Seuss.  The Lorax and Oh The Places You’ll Go are my favorites!
Cinco – I’m in love with The Vampire Diaries (the TV show – not the books) – again – don’t judge me 🙂
Seis – I love watching reruns of Will and Grace  – Karen Walker is the greatest TV character ever!
Siete – I think people have gotten a little too germophobic, specifically moms.  Don’t get me wrong; I believe in hygiene.  Sometimes though I just want to tell the other moms on the playground (preferably through a megaphone for dramatic effect), “Ladies step away from the hand sanitizer!”
3. Award 15 recently discovered new bloggers.
These aren’t necessarily “new” bloggers they are just “new” to me and I know you’ll like them too if you don’t already know them!
Thanks again Jen for thinking of me 🙂   Hope you all have a very Happy Wednesday!

  • These are TOO funny! You see I do somewhat speak spanish (linguist in AF for 6 years!)…. ok make that I can eaves drop in spanish (I agree so much with the don't judge me!!) But my mom is German Italian and doesn't speak a word because my grandma lived in a time/area where you were beaten for being italian (she was actually run over and dragged behind a car for about a block 'cuz she was italian…) So we grew up with no italian, just the food!

siete… germophobes! having 3 boys i got over germs so LONG ago. and they don't get any better as teens i can tell you. sometimes i just have to turn my head and look away! LOL I so agree about the megaphone though!! (I have to admit to cleaning the shopping cart handle though….. lets just say I had a disgustingly gross experience!)

Congratulations!! Have a great day! I am still waiting for the sun to come out and the drywallers to show up (I don't think they are early birds….) Can you tell I am getting edgy about the project being done?! ha ha!

  • Love the little tid bits about you! Very cute! I also think we could learn a lot from Dr. Seuss! Going to check out those blogs now! Thanks!

  • I also know all of the words to the Little Mermaid! My sister watched it EVERYDAY while we were young & growing up! My favorite is…Part of Your World sung by Ariel! I am also the proud owner of a minivan! And I agree with you hand sanitizer…out of control!! Thank you so much for awarding me!! I guess now its my turn?!? Definitely going to check out some of these other blogs first though!!

  • To your second random — my parents thought they were doing me the same favor when my mom refused to speak Korean in front of us growing up… until we were past the point of REALLY picking it up. Silly parents.

  • no wonder you are exotically beautiful! really. and i also love the lorax and all the seuss books and their seussisms… we read them all the time, and i am such a sap that the lorax makes me cry. of course, i also cry at the end of the little mermaid, which i also love!!!
