Leopard Love

It’s amazing how the right fabric can change a chair from voom to va va voom.  I bought this chair at a consignment shop about a year and a half ago.  This is an old, terrible before picture.

First, I gave it a little makeover with some white spray paint and a scrap of green silk fabric and it looked pretty good.
It looked like this until this past weekend when I gave it another little makeover.  I repainted the chair with some homemade white chalk paint, distressed it, and then followed with a top coat of polycrylic.  But really, the main difference is the new fabric.  I found a scrap of leopard fabric at a local vintage shop and fell in love.
I know right?!  She’s sexy and she knows it!  Oh my hot mamma, is it not crazy the difference a little fabric change can make?!  This fabric is so soft and plush-y.
This is going to be my new desk chair.  I can’t wait to show you where my little office is going.  For now let’s check out her lovely lady lumps.
I’m in love with my “new” chair.  I love it when little changes make a big impact, don’t you?
So what were you up to this weekend?  Anyone else doing any quick re-upholstery projects?  I squeezed this little project in before we went out to celebrate the hubs birthday!  We had a great time and he appreciated so much all of your happy birthday messages!

  • I love that fabric! I had four chairs that I painted red and I looked for weeks for a fabric just like this and could not find it anywhere – I would have even taken one with the same pattern in a woven (not plush) but it was nowhere to be found. I love your little chair!

  • Love the chair…. the funny part though is that for the past 3 years our dining room tables have had that exact fabric. The boyfriend never liked it… but I never changed it… 🙂

  • This is like one of those before and after wrinkle photos. The before in this case is Ina setting where the paint and carpet color do nothing for the poor green silky fabric. THEN, voila, new sexy fabric, matching wall and paint colors and whoosh! She's a star! Seriously, a very good move!

  • Love it!! I had a set of dining chairs I changed once or twice a year.. but had to get rid of them in the last move, now looking for a chair like this from flea markets for my daughter's room.. was thinking painting pink & zebra 😉
