I’m finally done with the powder bathroom makeover I started a couple of months ago! You may recall my goal was to take this powder room from builder basic to custom, to bring in a little wow factor and a heavy dose of personality. To refresh your memory here’s a look at where we started. This is the picture from the MLS listing of the house and what this bathroom looked like when we toured the house.
It had good bones, everything was in good working order and I was excited to put my own stamp on it. This windowless bathroom has a small footprint but a really great tall ceiling. My first thought was to highlight the height of the space in order to make it feel more open and spacious. To do that I added a floor to ceiling tile wall, using this subway mosaic ceramic tile. I also painted the walls HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams Aesthetic White, which matched the color of the tile and was just a tad lighter than the trim color. Visually this allowed the walls to seamlessly blend in with the moulding and doors which really made the whole space feel much larger. I also painted the ceiling Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams, a dark charcoal grey which made the ceiling recede deceiving the eye into thinking the walls are even taller than they actually are. Last but not least for paint projects, I painted the vanity a fun happy color, HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams Rachel Pink. It was like the cherry on top of this little makeover and really lightened the mood while upping the personality factor in this little space. It’s always amazing to me how much paint can do to completely transform a space.
Of course, because I’m a big believer that design is in the details I also switched out the faucet (for this gorgeous one by Kohler) and changed out the cabinet hardware for something a little more sleek and modern with these black cabinet pulls. The existing light fixture was given a little schoolhouse style makeover. Then I brought in some art and accessories and called her done! Enough with the talky-talky, let’s get on with the boat load of after photos!

In lieu of towel bar I opted to bring in a ladder over the commode. I had plans to make one but this bamboo ladder I found at a local shop, Celadon, was too good of a price to pass up, and all I had to do to make it work in this space was to cut the bottom two rungs off.
It’s probably not normal, but I’m not ashamed to admit I’m slightly obsessed with this t.p. holder. It’s polished chrome and lucite! And I love it!
I’m also crazy about the artwork.
All in all this little powder bathroom makes me so happy now!

Well done! I adore pink, but it’s tricky to put it in an adult home in a tasteful way. Love it!
