One Room Challenge: Week 1 – Powder Bathroom – Before

Sooooo, I’m a little late to this One Room Challenge party as this season technically started this past Wednesday, but I’ve decided to dive in nonetheless! The idea that in 8 weeks I could have a beautifully finished powder bathroom, just in time to host guests for the holidays, just has me too excited!

For anyone here who doesn’t already know what the One Room Challenge is – this is an online design challenge dreamed up and hosted by Linda Weinstein in which designers, creatives, and interior enthusiasts complete a room makeover in just 8 weeks. It’s all kinds of fun, absolutely motivating, and always inspiring! I was honored to be a featured designer last fall and completed our home library and reading porch. I’m thrilled to be participating again and can’t wait to give our blank, personality-less powder room a much-needed makeover. This year’s media partner is Apartment Therapy, and if you can believe it, it’s the 10-year anniversary of this incredible online event!

The Before

This is basically going to be a white box challenge for me. Our powder bathroom is a windowless, very small, all-white space. It’s not in bad shape. It’s just lacking personality.

The basics are all there and most will remain. But after three years of living in this house, I’m ready to give this powder room some attention. And this challenge is just the motivation I need!

The only decorative thing in the space that I really love is this vintage mirror, so that is my inspiration piece for the design.

Where It Lives

To give this space some context.

This little powder room is down the hallway off of our entry foyer right before you land in our laundry room.

I think a powder room is a fun space to play with design and that’s exactly what I intend to do – PLAY! But I do love for every space to feel connected in some way while also having its own unique vibe.

I’ll be back to share my design plans and inspiration this Wednesday! Stay tuned!

Be sure to pop over here to see what all of the other participants will be working on over the next 8 weeks.
