I can’t believe it’s already week 3 of the One Room Challenge! Time flies when you’re having fun! 😉 I’ve been busy over the past week. Wallpaper ceiling – check! Score an incredible chandelier at a local thrift shop – check!!!!!

Oh my word, I am so in LOVE!!! I wasn’t really even looking to replace the fixture I had in here, but I was out thrifting (mostly looking for art) when I saw this beauty. And I immediately knew she needed to come home with me. When you know you know. 😉
This glass chain chandelier was a total steal! The booth I found it in was moving out of the thrift shop, so everything was already marked 25% off. But then I noticed a small defect (that I knew could be easily fixed) and negotiated for a lower price, and now here she is in all her glory! Light on or light off, she’s just beautiful! And I really love how she disguises the ceiling register so much better than the old fixture did. Plus the shadows against this metallic wallpaper are so dreamy!

Speaking of the ceiling register, I used the same technique I used for the library registers on both the bathroom register and the fan. And now they both blend in with the wallpaper pretty well, but I do think this glass chain chandelier really steals the show which also helps these things to sort of fade into the background.

In other news, I’ve finally, after two solid weeks of staring at samples…….

and walking by the powder room a million times a day, and standing in the hallway just staring at this wall……..

……evaluating how the samples look during the day and at night, with the lights on and the lights off…….

……I finally landed on a color! And it still kind of blows my mind just how different these swatches look in different lighting and how much that has impacted my choice! In a space that sees lots of natural light, I would not be choosing the color I’ve decided to paint these walls. But our powder room has no windows and is down a hallway that doesn’t get much natural light.

So I’m going with Plum Dandy by Sherwin Williams because as much as I love the deeper plum shades, in this windowless bathroom those colors read almost like a brownish black, which I don’t love for this space. The walls in the hallway are black, and I want the powder room walls to contrast. So I’m going with a much lighter shade than I originally thought I would, but I think it’s the right call for this space. And I can’t wait to see it paired with the metallic wallpaper on the ceiling.

Do you think I should paint the crown the same color as the walls? Or should I leave it white?

Be sure to check out what all of the other participants are up to this week!
Paint the crown the same as the walls. with such rich colours on the ceiling and walls a band of white will just draw attention to tiself and distract from the other finishes and details – especially in a small space like a powder room.
