I’m almost done with the powder bathroom makeover. I just finished up the last diy project I had planned for the space, and now I get to do the real fun stuff……play with accessories!  I’m waiting on one last slightly integral mail delivery, the toilet paper holder, and then I’ll be shooting the space to share with you all!  I’m so pumped to be knocking this project off my house list!

The last diy project I had planned for this space included a fun paint color for the vanity.powder bathroom vanity makeover

I didn’t dislike the dark grey color, but this cabinet was slightly beat up and in need of a fresh coat of paint.  I figured if I had to paint it to freshen it up why not have a little fun?

The dark grey was a little heavy for this small window-less bathroom.  Even after I painted the walls white and added a white subway tile feature wall the space still felt a little closed in and dark.  I realized a lot of that had to with the fact that the vanity felt very heavy in here against the dark wood floor.  So I decided to go light and fun with a large dose of personality.  I painted the vanity Sherwin Williams Rachel Pink, the same color that is on our front door.

It’s such a happy color and was just the breath of fresh air this little bathroom needed.  I also switched out the cabinet hardware for something a little more modern.

I’m not personally crazy about the beadboard style cabinet doors, but I feel like the sleek black hardware makes them look a bit more modern.  I also decided to switch out the bathroom faucet for this gorgeous Kohler beauty.  The previous faucet was in great working order but not quite my style.  I also think in a  bathroom with zero windows it’s nice to have a little sparkle.  The brushed nickel of the previous faucet didn’t really add much in the way of “bathroom jewelry”, but this polished chrome Kohler girl is the perfect amount of faucet bling.

As you can see I also painted the ceiling, Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze.  It really made the whole space feel larger adding a deep dark color to the fifth wall.

Nearing the finish line feels so good!  Can’t wait to wrap this one up and share the full reveal!

  • Thanks Joanne! I like beadboard cabinets; I just prefer flat panel doors. I’m really looking forward to wrapping this little project up. The tile wall took a lot longer than I expected, but it was so worthwhile!
