Simple Halloween Decor

We’re hosting a costume party later this month, so this year I’m doing a little more decorating than I usually do for Halloween.

The name of the game in holiday decorating around here is – keep it easy to clean up – I know you feel me on that right?!  But honestly, I think a few simple touches go a really long way in creating a festive look.

Halloween Mantle

The ol’ dollar spot at Target did not disappoint this year.  I found the mini pumpkins and the banner there.  Those cute little black, white and gold pumpkins aren’t overly Halloween specific, so I can recycle them for Thanksgiving.  #score!

I keep a little bag of old costumes in our storage closet, and I like to find ways to use those items in my decorating, hence the witch hat and masquerade masks.  Another easy decorating trick?  I spray painted some dried eucalyptus black.  It looks a little spooky and was so quick and easy to pull off!

Slightly Spooky Touches

I’m not into anything super scary.  I like my Halloween more on the sweet side than the overly spooky side.

Did you spy the spiders?  I’ve used these spiders for the past couple of years (originally found them at Michaels).  This is the first time I’ve used them on this bookcase, and I’m really loving them here.

Last but not least, White Beauty got dressed for the occasion.

She’s my favorite part of our spook-i-fied living room!

So what about you all, do you do any Halloween decorating inside your homes?

I’m a super big fan of anything that has staying power through Thanksgiving, like this black and white marble bowl filled with gold pumpkins.

  • While I am not one to decorate strictly for Halloween, it looks fantastic Carmel. Very festive. Courtney posted her mantle and I think what I love about both of yours is the use of black and white…not the bright orange associated with Halloween.

  • Love! I typically use white pumpkins & dark red leaves – I do “fall” so I can keep stuff up until Christmas (and we never have trick or treaters, living way out in the country). I might try to incorporate more black. I do have a black (spray paint) grapevine wreath with a black crow in it (copycat of an old WS wreath) that I hang every year, just for October. I think I need a few more decorations to match it, not just the generic “autumn”. Inspired!
