Master Bathroom Reveal

Hey friends and happy Thursday!  It’s reveal day for the Choose Your Own Adventure Refresh, and I’m excited to share my master bathroom makeover with you all today.

Choose Your Own Adventure Refresh

As many of you know we’ll be putting our home up for sale in the next few months as we’re currently building our forever home.  So my goal for this bathroom makeover was to freshen the space to make it more attractive to potential buyers.

Before

To jog your memory, here’s a look at the before (pictures from the real estate listing of the house when we bought it).   I’m a little embarrassed to admit that in three years time I never got around to doing much of anything in our master bathroom.  While it wasn’t awful, it was pretty boring and basic.

After

It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint (Sherwin Williams Shoji White), a bold piece of art and new lighting can do for a space!

I just love this view from our master bedroom now!

These gorgeous semi-flushmounts from Hudson Valley Lighting made a world of difference in here.  I love them so much I kind of wish I could pack them and take them with me when we move.  😉  I hope the new homeowners love them as much as I do!

His & Hers Vanities

Sometimes the little changes make the biggest impact, and that’s definitely the case with the new cabinet hardware.

The previous hardware had a satin nickel finish that matched the faucets,  but all the matching muted metal was a little lackluster.  The polished nickel hardware adds the perfect amount of shine to the space and matches the new light fixtures.

The artwork from Minted really ties the whole space together.  It was the inspiration for the design and marries the wall and tile color together well.

I’m so glad I decided to tackle this space as part of this decorating challenge!  My only regret is that I didn’t give our master bathroom a refresh when we moved in three years ago.  But at least I’ll be able to enjoy it for a few more months!

  • It’s beautiful, Carmel! I’m sure it will appeal to buyers when you put your house on the market. Can’t wait to see your forever house 🙂

  • Turned out great! And you got your new shoes in on the action too! 😉 (I always have to chuckle at the shoe pics – bloggers must LOVE shoe pics!!)

The art is superb!! Love it. I’m a little surprised you left the towel bars tho. As mentioned above, can’t wait to see what you do in the new house!

  • Beautiful update! Do you find the semi-flush fixture casts any shadows? I assume it is brighter than the flush mount. My flush mount is similar to your old fixture, but with dark bronze metal and an almost amber color globe. It gives off an unappealing yellowish glow.

  • Love this! Such a great job and also a good reminder of the huge difference that can be made with quick and easy changes. I did want to ask if anyone else is having trouble linking to the sources? I am interested in several items but when I click the links it connects to Pinterest, not the product.

  • Thanks so much Dawn! I’m so sorry, I just now realized that the pin it button is interfering with the links. I’ll update with text links to make it easier to get the source info.

  • No shadows at all and even though it’s a one bulb fixture it’s brighter than the the old flushmount because the glass is clear as opposed to a thick beige globe. They are really pretty when they’re lit. I’ll share a live look on instastories tomorrow as I’ve had quite a few people ask me about them.

  • I noticed you only have a rug in front of the vanity. What do you use for getting out of the shower and bath? I ask because I have this problem in master bath. I like the one rug look but also want it to be functional.

  • We dry off in the shower so we aren’t super wet when we get out and our tile isn’t slippery, so we don’t actually use anything. I put a towel down on the floor when I use the tub, but other than that I just keep a couple throw rugs in front of the vanities mostly for looks but also to have something soft/warm underfoot.

  • Haha! Interior pictures always look best when they have some life in them. 😉

I left the towel bars because as surprising as this may be, a lot of people prefer them to hooks for their functionality. Plus I figure if the new homeowners don’t like them, that’s a super easy and inexpensive swap they can make. I don’t plan on having anything except hand towel bars in the new house.

  • I’ve been working with a friend on refreshing her kitchen with dark cabinets, and she’s decided to have hers painted. If they’re in good condition, that’s a really simple way to update them.

  • Well doesn’t this look like a spa! So calm and relaxing! Beautiful light fixtures and art my friend!

  • Thanks Ariel! Spa-like is def what I was going for. Hoping that peaceful, welcoming vibe attracts potential buyers. 🙂

  • I love the way it turned out. Such a great idea to go with new cabinet hardware that doesn’t match the faucets. The polished / satin nickel combination really works well together.
