Before and After – Hallway Ceiling

This hallway ceiling went from drab to fab thanks to the power of paint! But the real MVP of this before and after is Stellar Air. They make vent covers that are both functional and stylish. And thanks to the cover they gifted me, I was able to replace the ugly intake grille in this hallway with a cover that is so chic it looks like a piece of art!

Before

The air intake grille in this hallway that is right off our entry foyer always bugged me. As you can see, it was just so large and in charge that it visually competed with the light fixture.

So……

replacing an air intake grille

I jumped at the chance to replace it with a decorative cover from Stellar Air. I chose the Gemstone style, but they have lots of beautiful designs from which to choose.

Their vent covers are super easy to install! And they’re made with natural wood that can be stained or painted. I decided to extend the black wall paint (Hitching Post Black from the Duron Collection for Sherwin Williams) to the ceiling, so I spray painted the vent cover black as well.

After

Now, this intake grille complements rather than competes with the light fixture!

It’s sleek and beautiful! Such a small change, but it made such a huge impact on this hallway ceiling!

  • might have also been fun if you painted the ceiling white, and put the black grill over the whole ceiling. Nobody would see it is covering something anymoren….

  • I’m sure that would have looked really cool! But I also tried to think about what would be the easiest when it came time to change the filter. I think something that covers the while ceiling would have been a little cumbersome.
