2023 Home Project Goals

I love starting the new year with home project goals! I feel like it helps me to better budget with both my money and my time. When I start the year with a clear vision of what I’d like to accomplish on the home front, it’s easier to cook at home rather than eat out in order to save $ for something on my house wish list. 😉 Dreaming and planning in January also motivates me with regard to where I’ll DIY versus hiring out, and it helps me to get a jump start on gathering estimates from contractors in advance of starting a project.

Will all of the projects on my list get done this year? Hopefully! But I consider progress a success, so any steps forward in any of these spaces I’ll be counting as a win!

So far, I’ve just made the list, but I’m still sorting out which of these are the most important, which is my way of letting you know that these are in no particular order.

Dining Room Refresh

But you already know that the dining room is first on my hit list as part of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge! If you’ve been following along on Instagram Stories, you already know that the grasscloth on the ceiling has been peeled back and the moisture issue has been fixed! So now I’m just waiting for drywall repair before I address what I’ll be doing with this ceiling next.

Library Powder Room

This door in the library leads to a powder room, and these white walls against this yummy blue in the library are just too stark for me. This little space needs some love and personality!

My Boy’s Bathroom

Technically, my boy’s bathroom is a jack & jill that connects to the library, but there are two separate vanity rooms. And anyhow, his bathroom is nice but basic as well. After 3 years of living in this house, I feel like way past time to at least hang some art on the walls in here!

My Girl’s Bedroom

My girl’s room doesn’t need much, so this will really just be about finishing details. She could use a couple of nightstands and maybe a reading chair.

Her bathroom, on the other hand, will likely get some paint and or pattern on the walls…..to be determined.

Outdoor Kitchen Patio Area

The outdoor kitchen was crossed off the list last summer, but the remainder of this patio area could still use some attention. I’d really love to do something with this concrete floor…….currently thinking and gathering inspiration.

Some of what I’ve got planned for this space was started last summer but was left unfinished thanks to the summertime’s unbearable humidity. So this may be an early spring project.

*Love having teenage help. 😉

Exterior Front

We had the louvers painted grey last year, and I love how that softened the front exterior. Now, I’ve got a few little architectural details I’d like to add this year as well as more landscaping.

Guest Room Bathroom

Last but not least is the guest room bathroom. I had grasscloth wallpaper added to the walls, but outside of that, the space could use some styling and finishing details.

Of course, I have lots of little things planned too which I’ll be sharing more about soon! Cheers to the first week of 2023, friends! I love the motivation and inspiration of a fresh year!
