So far, it’s working! I’ve crossed two things off my January list this week! And it feels so good because these two closet updates are things I’ve been wanting to do for months.
First up, was this thrifted lamp I bought a while ago (back when I covered the desktop with burl wood contact paper). The shade had a few stains that I thought I could clean and then maybe paint to disguise, but my cleaning attempt just made the stains worse. So, I had to pivot.

I swapped the shade for one I found at Walmart, and painted the white ceramic base of the lamp the same pink as the rest of my closet (State Street Pink by Sherwin Williams). This little update has the lamp feeling so fresh on my desk. It’s giving Anthro vibes, and I’m here for it!

Next up, I lined my dresser drawers with leftover wallpaper from the library and powder room ceilings. I’d intended to do this back when I painted this dresser red, but…….I got 90% of this project finished and procrastinated on that last 10%. Please tell me you do this, too! I don’t know why that last part is always such a struggle for me, but I’m so happy I finally knocked this out!

Such a small thing, but every time I open a drawer a smile crosses my face. And to me, that’s what design is all about. Making our homes our happy places, and making the mundane feel magical. No one is ever going to see this but me…..(and all of you ;))….but that’s the point. It’s for me to enjoy.

Crossing these two things off my list inspired me. I found some cup hooks in my junk drawer (leftover from when I added them to my pantry) and decided to give myself some jewelry storage on the back of this dresser that I use like an island in my closet.

Just wish I would have done this sooner!

To the power of lists! Writing these things down and sharing them with you all has been such great motivation! Are you joining me this month? What’s on your January Little Things list?
