I did some painting in the kids bathroom over the weekend! Thank you all so much for your input on paint colors. You were pretty much evenly split on which color you liked best, so I took that to mean any of the three would look great. But before I show you what color I went with, let’s take a tour of their newly organized bathroom vanity shall we?
Last month I made my girl this hair accessory organizer to hang on the inside of her cabinet door, and this past weekend I finally finished organizing everything else. I used the fun, colorful pattern from this organizer as inspiration. I know some people may find it silly and pointless to decorate the inside of a bathroom cabinet. But I’ve learned for myself that when I take the time to make organized spaces pretty I do a much better job of keeping them organized. Figuring out what works for you and your family is so key to keeping any drawer/cabinet/closet organized.
Once again I whipped out my secret weapon to help me create some fun labels and decorative tapes.
I borrowed an idea from Megan dressing up the drain pipe with patterned tape. It only takes a few seconds so I figured – why not?
I painted the backs of the cabinet with a sample pot of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Provence that I scored at the Haven Conference last year. It’s such a fun shade of turquoise-y blue.
My kids are lucky to have a double bowl vanity in their bathroom which means they each have their own cabinet.
As you can see the boy’s cabinet is much less “decorated”. You know, because he’s too manly and cool for all that nonsense. I made a few black and white instagram photo stickers for the back of the cabinet and plan to add more later. I went with a black and turquoise color scheme because clearly he wasn’t going to go for pink, and I just had to sneak an animal in – so he agreed to a rhino.
Everything my 9 year old boy needs to get ready can be found in this one little basket. This summer he started wearing deodorant!
I about cried in the middle of Target while he stood in front of the deodorant aisle trying to select a fragrance he liked. Where did my baby go?!
Because all he needs are those 4 items, my girl got to claim the bathroom drawers in addition to her cabinet.
I like to use containers on the inside of drawers to corral things. It also makes cleaning easy as I just pull the container out and wipe down the drawer.
I don’t know why but organizing anything puts me at ease. There is just something about bins, buckets, wire shelves and pretty labels that makes everything seem right in the world.
Maybe it’s because our lazy summer schedule is starting to wind down as the school bell will start ringing again on August 14th and I know this organized bathroom vanity will help to make our hectic early mornings run a little bit smoother.
Are you an organization junkie? Do pretty labels make you giddy too?
