Am I the only person left in the world who doesn’t feel like “decking the halls” until after we eat the big bird? Call me Scrooge or the Grinch, but I just can’t bring myself to bring out any Christmas decorations until at least the night of Thanksgiving. No matter how hard the retail stores try to convince me otherwise; I will always like celebrating one holiday at a time. And I also big ol’ fat love me some Thanksgiving. So, I’m still rocking pumpkins and fall-ifying my home to celebrate the upcoming day of gratefulness.
The weather here in Kentucky is kind of all over the place around this time of year. Some days it’s terribly cold and you just can’t stand to be outside, and other days it feels so good you have to strip away your scarf and cardigan to keep from sweating bullets. Since my dad helped us fix up our fire pit area last month (more on that coming soon), we’ve been taking any opportunity we can to spend time in our backyard before winter makes its official appearance. So, I spruced up our potting bench for Thanksgiving.
I used the old-cabinet-doors-turned-chalkboard-shutters to continue our family tradition of making a list of things we’re thankful for this year.
We are so blessed, and my heart is truly filled with thanksgiving.
I'm like you. One holiday at a time please. There's just so much fun to squeeze in in only one month. That doesn't mean I'm not already planning for next month though. 😉
