Because this little blog isn’t just about creating a home it’s also about the stories that fill our home…………………….
There was a man standing outside of a Walmart with a box of puppies.
My then boyfriend, who is now my husband, walked up to the man and said, “How much do you want for one of these puppies?”
And the man said, “You can have him for free!”
It’s hard to believe that was 15 years ago.
That scruffy little black puppy he named Jake was our first baby. He was both mine and my husband’s first dog. He was sweet and well mannered, and he grew up to be such a great dog!
After his best friend, Prince, passed he was heart broken, but we showered him with love and he lived almost 2 more years.

Yesterday he joined his best buddy. We laid Jake to rest; and while our hearts ache, we are so thankful for the last 15 years. He was so much more than a pet; he was a beloved member of our family.
Watching my children say goodbye is a memory I’ll never forget.
We will carry Jake’s gentle spirit with us forever.
Oh Carmel I am so very, very sorry. Pets become such a part of our lives and we are so grateful for what they give us. We lost two within 6 months and I said no more. That lasted 2 months and then we rescued a pit mix and then in another year we adopted another pit. I finally realized that to honor the dogs we lost we had to adopt again so we could give that love to another animal while never forgetting the ones we lost but helping other dogs to live. One day you will be able to talk and laugh about your lost pets and I hope that day comes soon for you and your family. Patty
