using a cubeical for closet storage

So first off, how ClosetMaid Cubeicals hasn’t contacted me to do an informercial for them is beyond me.  I mean I’m basically their number one fan.  I’ve used these suckers for everything from building a storage platform bed for my son to making my daughter a dollhouse.  I’m kind of a cubical junkie, so it should come as no surprise that I decided to bring some cubes into my closet.  These are the old school cubeicals.  You know the ones that are single cubes?  Do they still make them like that anymore?  These were left behind by the previous owners of my home, and these cubes used to live in my son’s closet.  That is until I evicted them and brought in a new tenant, the bookcase turned clothing organizer. So these three sad little cubeicals were just begging to be useful once again.  I told them they could live in my closet, but only if I could give them a quick little 5 minute makeover.

I probably should’ve titled this post – “Cubeicals Gone Wild” – or maybe – “Hi, I’m Carmel and I’m addicted to Leopard” – either would have been a better fit.
I mean, is there anything washi tape isn’t good for?

A little tip for getting the washi tape to stick and stay put – use a little mod podge on the edges.
Oh, hello little command hooks, have you met my favorite gold spray paint?

Glad to see you got yourselves acquainted.
These cubeicals can be used for so many things.  Clearly, I’m a big time fan.

In a closet they’re so great for stackable, accessible storage.  You can do so much to customize them too!  It’s fun to add a little style and personality to your otherwise boring but functional spaces don’t you think?  And you can’t beat a 5 minute makeover can you?!

  • Those look like a great way to store and separate things. I like your painted hooks, especially for the necklaces. I don't know why ClosetMaid hasn't contacted you either. Maybe you can make the first move.

  • What a clever idea! I never would have thought to deck out the fronts, and add hooks inside for jewelery. Classiest cubicles I've ever seen 🙂
