healthy living steps – ditching toxic cleaners

This is the story of how I ditched all of these.

I’ve been a clean freak for most of my life.  And I was attached to my brand name store bought cleaning supplies.  I used to roll my eyes when people bloggers would talk/write about how they detoxed their home by ditching all their toxic, chemical-laden cleaning supplies for natural cleaners.  I’d tried some natural cleaners before, and I was not impressed.  The natural cleaners I tried just didn’t seem to get the job done, and man were they expensive!  I knew that using all the chemical laden cleaners was probably not good for me or my household, but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice real cleanliness especially if that meant paying a higher price.  

I think healthy living is a journey, and I think it’s all about making steps, one at a time, in a healthier direction.  That whole Rome wasn’t built in a day is kind of how I look at healthy living.  Two years ago I started my paleo journey and have become quite passionate about real, nutrient-dense food; and last year while I may not have blogged about it too much I spent much of the year switching out a lot of my family’s personal care products.  I’ve basically been on a mission to detox our lives and our home as much as possible.  There was one area where I wasn’t making much headway.  I was still clinging to my old, trusty cleaners.  They were like my toxic skeletons in the all natural closet.  Ha!  

But then the clouds parted and the angels sent down a bottle of Young Living’s Thieves Household Cleaner.
