Trying to choose a paint color for your walls based on a tiny paint chip is…….well, let’s face it…….it’s near impossible. Which is why I usually end up painting big sample swatches all over my walls to help me make a decision. The only issue with this method is that often times it takes me a while to make a decision once the swatches are on the wall, and I end up hosting parties and holiday gatherings with 5 different colors on the wall. It can be a little embarrassing sometimes. Thankfully, Lowe’s has come up with an easier way to choose paint colors for your walls.
The Spot On paint kit can be found in, you guessed it, the paint department at Lowe’s. It’s $12.98 and comes with 3 mini paint trays, 3 mini paint rollers, one roller handle and 3 removable and repositionable wall decals that you can paint with whatever paint samples you’re considering. You buy your paint samples separately, but the kit comes with a coupon for a free sample and $5 off a can of paint. So you’re basically getting the kit for free. And you can also buy the decals separately in a pack of 3 if you don’t want to buy the whole kit. The pack of 3 decals costs $2.94.
This kit is basically genius! You paint your decals. I’m currently deciding between 3 different whites for the powder bathroom. Not all whites are created equal. It’s a tricky color to choose.
Once your decals are dry you just peel the back and stick them on the wall. Since I’m deciding between 3 shades of the same color I used a black sharpie to identify each sample.
The great thing about these decals is that they don’t damage the wall when you remove them and you can reposition them around your room to see how the paint will look in different areas or even in different rooms. I don’t think I’ll ever choose a paint color without these decals again. They’re an easy, inexpensive way to test samples in order to find the color that will work best. I wish these decals existed when I was choosing a color for my front door. It would have made the process so much easier!
Any guesses as to which white I chose? I wanted one that would compliment the white tile and not be white-er than the trim color. It’s kind of crazy how many variations of white are out there!
Happy Weekend y’all! And Happy Mother’s Day!
*Thanks to Lowe’s for sending me one of these kits to try!
Very cool. Did you choose Aesthetic White?
