Remember last year when I decided to participate in the One Room Challenge and finally whip our guest bedroom in to shape? You may recall that I failed miserably due in large part to a major snafu with one of the key design elements I had planned for the space. My failed attempt to install removable wallpaper changed the plan up a bit. Then the holidays came and went, and a few other projects got bumped to the top of the priority list. But now I’m ready to get this guest bedroom project done!
A Peek at the Progress
I finally got the art and these vintage pineapple sconces hung on the wall. This black and white umbrella print from CC + Mike fits with the vibe of the room just perfectly!
Since the wallpaper didn’t work out I chose to add some drama and depth to the room by painting the ceiling a dark charcoal, almost black, Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze. Then I had the contractor that installed the bookcases in the hubs office nook add crown moulding. The combination of the dark ceiling and crown moulding made the room feel and look larger. I’m actually glad the wallpaper didn’t work out or else I might not have considered painting the ceiling. This dark charcoal adds so much to this room.

I love the way the light fixture pops against the dark ceiling.
Now there are just a few more small accessories I want to add to this space, and then our guest room will be officially open for business! I’m looking forward to sharing a reveal very soon!
I’ve never seen a ceiling darker like that before, I really like it! It adds a lot of character to the room!
