Some of you may remember last fall when I decided to tackle our guest bedroom as part of the One Room Challenge.  You may also recall that after the six week design challenge I was still a far cry from the finish line due to an unfortunate experience with the removable wallpaper I had planned to use on the headboard wall.  But that little snafu ended up being a really good thing as in retrospect I think a bold pattern on that wall might have overwhelmed the space.  The design course correction I made after my failed attempt to wallpaper ended up being a much better fit for this room.  Painting the ceiling black  and having crown moulding added to the room made the room feel larger while adding a dose of the unexpected.
Today I’m excited to share the finally finished space! Â My goal for this room was to create a space with a boutique hotel vibe, a welcoming room with loads of personality! Â I’m really glad to finally have a finished space for our guests to enjoy when they stay with us!
Be Our Guest!
I love walking past this room!  These little peeks from the hallway make me smile.
The details in any design are always my favorite part.  This little needlepoint “reserved” pillow is so fun for a guest bedroom!
And these pineapple pillowcases I found at HomeGoods might be my absolute favorite! Â They’re so soft too!
I opted to bring in a desk to use as a nightstand on one side because guests share a bathroom with my daughter. Â I want them to have a private area where they can get ready for the day.

Rather than brining in a traditional bedroom dresser, I instead opted to create a little sitting area opposite the bed using these black vintage chairs we’ve had for years. Â And then my old red Ikea Expedit got fancied up with some gold hardware for a campaign-style look. Â She holds everything from magazines and extra toiletries to towels, pillowcases and blankets.

So it may have taken me much longer than 6 weeks to get this room ready, but I’m so pleased with how she turned out!
